What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One from the South Texas Knife Cartel today — a trapper from Burt Flanagan, featuring Bill Burke’s amazing "River of Fire" Damascus…

Beauty and the beast. You decide which is which.DA4A6573-B796-428D-82F1-3E1DB7BA2A2C.jpegPost rehearsal/pre service shot while re-tuning. I put new strings on the Junior yesterday, and I need to keep re-tuning until they break in. 8F696DD6-A432-4179-8D5D-E403F59F51DF.jpegI hope all a yall’s day is a fine as mine!

And it’s going to get better ~ three of my four Georgia Granddaughters are coming today. I get to meet the new one.

Staying close to home today. Gonna watch NASCAR if the rain lets up enough to let them run. At any rate, I'll have this Ebony Sowbelly close at hand. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

NASCAR called it: postponed until tomorrow at 4 p.m. Eastern.

View attachment 2500424A beautiful start to the day here in the City by the Bay! Unfortunately it’s not supposed to last as more rain is forecast for this afternoon. Not much on the agenda for today other than doing the laundry. Keeping me company the always handsome Modoc Special and a fancy lamb. Have a relaxing Sunday folks! 😀
Tried to add a bonus pic but being the Luddite that I am I messed it up. Did get the pic of the rainbow I took a few minutes ago. 🤷

Sticking with the Bicentenial Imperial for an couple moor days in mi pocket ...
It takes (and holds) such a fine keen (10DPS/20° inclusive factory edge!!!🤯🤯😳😁👍) sharp edge. 😁👍
Do anyone no if the same era Imperial's 440A will take and hold the same?

I REALLY like this knife and the details.

However ... I no I gotta give the Frontier Double Eagle a shot at bat ... mebby ittle hit a triple grand-slam home run, too.... 😇

Still have the Toferner, no name, and Weinmannsheil lockback "sodbuster" on me. juss two tired to wake them up for the picture.
Although I can't speak to the exact angle (since I usually just sharpen with a stone), I've been impressed with the Imperial knives I've had and their ability to hold a pretty wicked edge. I nearly took the end of a finger off with the little yellow one in this picture a few months back, and that one happens to be stainless.

Outstanding stag canoe! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Started on the next walking stick today and have these 2 Northfield Stags along with me as well as the Puukko . The Puukko will be the user and the Stags will just watch .

Sometimes with Stag you just have to look at the Pile side too .

Standout stag on that pair, Harry!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Out in the yard this morning and set my knife down and thought…that kinda looks like the board Modoc ED Modoc ED uses, I should snap a pic. Happy Sunday all. View attachment 2491762
Superb knife, and I see what you mean about the background resembling one that Modoc ED Modoc ED often uses!;)

1. Hoping for a good game today and that the Chiefs will ultimately win
2. I hate this message from the postal service, especially when waiting for a new custom fixed blade: “Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.”

Chiefs-themed colors for today.

I'll bet that red Farmer is just what the Chiefs needed to pull out the win last week!🤓

Carrying this small stag SFO today

Congratulations to the KC Chiefs but now it’s time to “Play Ball!”View attachment 2492610
First baseball photo of the year (that I've noticed) always cheers me up with the promise of spring just around the corner!:thumbsup::cool:

You're doing a pretty good job of keeping track, Jeff.
Thanks. The E. Weck & Son arrived this week and I had a chance during the day long pre-game to de-rustify and sharpen it up.

Congrats on your new antique E. Weck!:thumbsup::cool:
Didn't Ewoks carry E. Wecks in Return of the Jedi? 🤓

Wondrous whittler with sumptuous stag covers!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Raining bad today, so these are indoor pics under florescent lighting- bad combo!

Whatever the conditions, I don't think you can make that Wanorth lambsfoot look bad!🤓

Getting ready to add a few days to the up coming 3-day weekend. Carrying these two today. 😉👍View attachment 2493753
First-rate knives and slips, Todd!:cool::thumbsup:
Hope you had a good "getaway"!

Cherish the Churchill, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
The red Cadet is also a winner!

Holy Cow! 😲 What model Case is that, John? I've always thought the pen blade on a Texas Jack was awesome, but I really don't care much for square bolsters, so I've never picked up a Texas Jack. But the knife in your photo seems to have that same superlative pen blade I lay admire, and round bolsters besides! Is that a standard 62087 jack with a pen blade replacement??

Our home fire insurance is being cancelled because of the past few years of major fires so it's off to town and our insurance agent for a new policy with a different insurance company. It's going to be pricy. The majority of the homes in this area have had their fire insurance dropped. I think Bunny 525 will make a good companion for this trip. Sausage and ??????? for breakfast.

Sorry to read that about your insurance, ED.:( I suppose their canceling your policy is legal, but it doesn't seem ethical/moral if you've been faithfully paying premiums for years. I don't imagine they'll refund your premiums once you're no longer eligible to get a claim payout from the "pool" into which you've been paying.

Something colourful today as it's Carnival. Make sure to eat some jelly donuts today! Below is the most famous mask from my country, the Kurent. I don't walk around like that, but they're fun to see. They make a lot of noise to scare away the winter.

W😲W! I've never seen those characters before. Do people dress like that just one day a year in your country, or is that standard cold weather clothes?

New to me Buck Creek copperhead arrived in yesterdays mail, pocketed with a fat spear blade Schatt for todays carry.
I've wanted a knife with waterfall celluloid handles since I find the covers to be attractive in spite of the risk involved with cell off gassing. I'll store it away from my other knives to be safe. ;) Question; does anyone know if the (92) on the blade etch designates the year of manufacture or model number?
View attachment 2494738View attachment 2494739
Congrats on the Buck Creek copperhead, Greg; it looks great!:thumbsup::cool:
When I "window shop" for knives on my computer, I often see Buck Creek knives, but I don't know anything about their reputation/history. I don't see them very often on The Porch, although I think Modoc ED Modoc ED occasionally posts some.

62032 5K Qs 5K Qs I bought it alot of years ago used and its the only one I have ever seen with rounded bolsters!! Kinda made me woonder if someone didnt do that themselves??
And.. Thanks.. 🤝
John

Thanks brother. You’re a good dude. I appreciate the awesome sharpening stones you sent me. Enjoy that ‘98 Soldier. She deserves to not die in the box.

That other knife is a beaut. Love the wharncliffe.

P.S. - The name is because I loved watching Sanford and Son with my dad growing up. Great old show.
I watch that show every time I see that it’s on. Have a great day, David.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :)

Verah nice!
I'm wearing jeans to church, due in part to the shrinkage of my church pants, attributed by experts to the high level of cosmic rays associated with our late and mild winter.
