What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Don’t focus on the knife in this picture today. The focus is the sunset from our family lake house. Life is full of sunsets … some painful … all beautiful in their own way. I had previously posted about my son’s wedding last weekend. It was a wonderful celebratory weekend with the entire family; it couldn’t have been better. Sadly, as my oldest brother and his wife were making their way back north, he suffered a massive coronary event at the hotel in Atlanta. He was rushed to the hospital, but it took 45-60 minutes to restore a pulse. He never regained consciousness. He passed peacefully with our entire family by his side on Wednesday.

As the eldest of 5 boys, he set the standard as a son/brother/father/papa/uncle/friend. He was universally kind and accepting. We are broken, but drawing strength from our family and friends and relishing all the memories we have.

Life is short and fleeting … enjoy each day and don’t sweat the small stuff.

From 2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Rest in power my brother, my hero, my friend!

Sounds like he was even more reliable than a trusty stockman. Sending some brotherly love your way.

Jumping in here with a shot from the show. Enjoying dinner with Paul, Barrett, and Neal. Having a great time. 😎👍
Todd, I really enjoyed hanging out with you and the other guys.
Seriously nice folks.
And I’m glad you finally parted with some of that allowance money.

That’s rough, my friend. So sorry.

Great choice of Scripture.

A beautiful post. I'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss. We had to lay my grandmother to rest unexpectedly this week also. I know it's a devastating event & will be hard on all your family, but as you've stated, support from family & friends will be a great help in this difficult time. It's great that y'all had such a good time at your son's wedding & I'm sure there's plenty more memories to cherish of the time y'all spent together. Keep those memories alive & continue to make new ones.
Sending smoke & prayers for your family.

So sorry for your loss, a beautiful eulogy.

There was some doubt that I might not have been able to go to the Badger Blade show because of the snow rate when I got up this morning but it did slack off and I was able to go . I went with the intention of getting a Puma and a Winchester Black Box Coffin . I did pick up 2 Pumas but no Winchester . A Puma 6398 Fixed Blade and a Pony Folder and both were in good Stag . The fixed blade is not perfect nor is the sheath , but worth the price . The folder is in very nice shape but it is Stainless with brass liners . Currently unable to date either knife . My best guess now is 1970's on both . I also had a great time with some great guys .

I'm sorry for you and your family's loss. He sounds like a special kind of guy.

I lost my mom in 2018 and almost lost my younger sister last year - life is precious and your advice is sound.

I watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars when I was grieving the loss of my mom and, while this might sound silly, in one episode, Master Yoda said something that helped me in some small way:

"One with the Force, they are, and our job it is to remember that we will, in time, also pass on. Luminous beings are we, but temporary vessels, our bodies are. And we shall all find ourselves here, in time. A moment of silence, I ask—to remember, and to move on."
