Love that almost a Barlow on the right.
Thank you. It's a GEC 39 Old Sheffield Jack. I love that it's not a barlow.Love that almost a Barlow on the right.![]()
I really like the green electrician(?). I think that’s what it is. Nonetheless, it pops!
The thought occurred to me to try to take a knife pic during the total eclipse and catch the sun (outline) in the hinge bolster ..................... but ...... a little more thinking made me realize there won't be enough light ......................... unless I tripod the camera.![]()

It's not a good idea to look at it without filters even at totality, since the corona is plenty bright enough to damage your eyes. I don't know whether that will impact a camera or not.I’ll try to take a picture with an older phone.
I am told one MUST use a filter otherwise the sensor might get fried.
I’ll use an extra pair of eclipse glasses and tape them over the lens.
If one is in the path of a total eclipse it is then safe to photograph without filters or look at it ONLY during the couple of minutes where the sun is completely covered.
Our moment of totality will be tomorrow from 3:25 to 3:27 pm EST
The next one around here will be in 80 years.
I’ll be better prepared next time![]()
Your 66 in Ivoroid is classy.![]()
Steve, I'm diggin' the French Ivory!
Take it from me, welts are suuuper important. The first sheath I stitched I was trying to put a thin opinel paring knife into, and it blew right through the stitching and into my hand. It was too tight and I had not accounted for that even with the thin blades opinel has. Also Opinel makes one heck of a good and sharp paring knife, I have the scar to prove it lol.Yessir! I hand punched, hand stitched, and hand burnished. I don't think I'll ever machine stitch since it's not as robust. I did a saddle stitch with two back stitches on each end. I even put a welt all the way along the stitch so the knife will never cut the stitches.
