What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today the anchor knife. Otter is brand that only once let me down, their "modern" liner lock knife was below par. Their classics have all been top notch. My Otters today.

Take it from me, welts are suuuper important. The first sheath I stitched I was trying to put a thin opinel paring knife into, and it blew right through the stitching and into my hand. It was too tight and I had not accounted for that even with the thin blades opinel has. Also Opinel makes one heck of a good and sharp paring knife, I have the scar to prove it lol.
My brain always thinks about anatomy because I have fixed blades that I like to carry in my pocket. Things like that big artery that runs down my leg, as well as…
Other stuff.

But my worst cuts came from a modern when the lock failed.
This one today -- just in case I need to quickly punch a hole in a piece of cardboard to project the eclipse onto a flat surface for safe viewing. :D

I remember in grade school, they told everybody to bring a shoebox, and we all made viewers.

What’s the story on the shield?

You can see in the first picture that there is a check/crack running through the center pin at the well so I sanded the check/crack to see if it was indeed a crack that went all the way through the cover slab or just a shallow check. Turns out that it was just a shallow check in the wood slab. As a result, the shield sat just a hair proud so rather than mess with it I just removed the shield. It's turned out to be a solid knife and I use it quite a bit for rugged tasks. I like the contrast of the black ebony against the bright metal so I polish out the blade patina after use. It's the only knife I do this to.
