What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Pretty much out of commission for the weekend. Suffered a fall in the bathroom last night getting ready for bed. Turned for a washcloth, hooked my toe on the clothes hamper, fell into the partition wall between the toilet and shower stall, and down I went smacking my head on the toilet bowl on the way down. This Buck 055 is all I'll need for the duration. Skipping breakfast for a ham sandwich at lunch time.

Glad it wasn't worse, Ed

Food for thought...

Splendid 2024 Alox SAK, José!:thumbsup::cool:
You get one every year, right? How far back in time does your collection of the "annual SAKs" go?

Thanks Gary, but luckily I have them all (Pioneer and Pioneer X) from 2015 to 2024.;)👍

My first knife came home !

A Case USA no dots (1965-69) XX red bone model 6332 medium stockman was my first knife, back around 1965 or 1966. I remember buying it at the hardware store, in my little town ..... I was around 11 or 12 years old. The hardware store was my last customer on my daily paper route ..... via bicycle.

I parted with my paper route earnings to obtain the red bone ( leaning towards a pretty shade of reddish brown ) medium stockman. I toted the stockman every day, loose in my pockets, until it went missing when I was around seventeen years old. I replaced it with a Case XX Sodbuster, which eventually went missing as well. Those were my first two knives and the last two knives which I ever lost. They may have not even been lost, considering my older brother also had a keen interest in Case knives. ;)

I'll fast forward you to early this week when this user medium stockman came up on our exchange. I kept going back to it, looking again and again, wondering why it was still there. It didn't dawn on me at the time that the 6332 was from the same era and the exact model of my first lost (saying it nicely ;)) knife. After looking at least six different times ....... I had to say "I'll take it".

After opening the package yesterday, it took me all of thirty seconds for the light bulb to come on. 💡 It was almost as if my long lost Case had found its way home. A prettier shade of red than my original stockman, but, there was no doubt, after handling that old familiar pattern.🦖😊 I cleaned the bone and rubbed on it till I was satisfied, then did some blade cleaning ...... just enough to look a little better before adding a patina to them. My original one had gray patina on all blades and I came close to duplicating it with my forced patina.

Well ..... to say I'm pleased is an under statement ...... I'm back to long britches since it turned cold today ............... so in my watch pocket it went. I hope you like it too. 😊

That is an absolutely exquisite stockman. Happy you picked it up. In a one knife world you’d be hard pressed to select a better one.

Anyway onto a more cheerful subject. It's a bright & beautiful day out this way, we're heading out to a farmers market to look for some new plants for the yard. We got some old comb from cleaning out a previous hive & since our niece is so infatuated with bees, the wife & I decided to frame some up for her.
I got a stag Buck, the Schrade stockman for today & added my wife's SAK for the pic 🐝 👍

Have a great weekend y'all!

Ed I hope you're back in full fighting condition soon.

I had no intention of buying the Remington pruner. Never have had a pruner, and really the pattern has never “called” to me. Until one day in the yard I had my Barlow out pruning various things. Well…that’s all the excuse I needed to buy the Remington silver bullet pruner. Works as advertised. Not disappointed.

I love my Case pruner - it's not that great a knife except for pruning or cutting cord, but then it's vastly better than anything else.

We all come up with various reasons as to why we need to buy something now and then but you came up with a Good One . Now are you going to really use it or are you going to get an older one or cheaper one to use ???? It is almost Too Pretty to use .

Mines been putting in a fair bit of work for Mrs. Hoovie🌹
Who says all tools need to be plain? It's nice to bring out something good looking to work with every once & awhile 👍
