What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks Andi, you are right, i love all my German Eyes... they are very "individual" .

Although i must say:
During the last time, while reading this forums up and down, i'm more and more fallen in love with the "new old" GECs ... wonderful little beauties. Nothing (new) like them on the market!

By the way, here is a photo of the "man behind the German-Eye knives", Mr. Achim Gronauer, in his room with more than 8.000 patterns/variants of the "last years"! The room is like HEAVEN for a knife-nut, like me

My goodness, just the display case is exceptional!! I'm sure all of us would be in Candy Heaven!

I hope to see your knives more often, Old boy. I always enjoy looking at your knives and that Carl Schlieper is no exception!!

Glad, you love my knives, Gevonovich, i will try my very best.

During the last weeks i have "polished" all my babies and gave them "a drop of oil".
I don't like that "ugly patina" of the CV blades and most of my elder ones a shining like new... i know, that's not the american way of collecting knives ;)
The next days i will try to take photos and show some of them :)

I am looking forward to the feast. Thanks in advance

Me too... :apple:

But I fear - the more I see - the more I´d like to get. And watching to Old Boys great pics about Mr. Gronauer´s collection I think, I need to go to Solingen at some time with my credit card (& without my Better Half) for some other knives... :D

I've got this Remington Jack (R333) 3-3/4 with me today. I like the way Remington made the Clip with lots of belly! It's a joy to carry

Jason

Carrying the GEC 23, a great knife!!!

I've had this Camillus in my pocket for the past couple days.

Since you have it in hand, Dan could I ask you a question? I just picked up a Camillus just like yours at a pawn shop, but not in such nice condition. The smaller clip blade sits very low - nail nick down to the scale can hardly get my nail in there. Is that normal, or did the kick get ground down somehow?

Don't want to hijack the thread, so here's what I've been totin' today:

On mine, the bottom of the nick for the small clip is pretty much even with the liner. There is just enough room to get a nail in there to open it. If it was lowered, it would be almost impossible to get at.

Thanks, could be just how they made them.
When I buy an old knife, I often try to find a picture of what it looked like new.

what is that? looks like a buck stockman but i only ever seem to see them with plastic (and occasionally wood) covers.

Ha! I wondered if anyone would know what it is. It's a Buck Trio (Chinese made small stockman 373) I did a few modifications on it: filed a swedge on the spey blade, and filed down the bone to make a little nail relief.

Nice

ScruffUK is coming over to see me today, so I'll be carrying an entire sackful of knives, including the Martinni Deluxe Hunter which Thom won in my giveaway a few weeks back. In my pocket though, I'll have my Charlow :)
