Hey, porch friends! I just finished an 18 month journey to complete some CAD & design classes, so posting time has been limited. I've made time to come through slapping likes and posting occasionally, but I'm looking forward to hanging out a little more. It's great to see old friends are still here and I'm looking forward to getting to know the new folks better. Y'all have a great Saturday!

Just finished up with horses in Colorado Springs and in Parker. Now taking a break with a glass of the "Zembla Baltic Porter".

The blade on this Douk-Douk is beginning to patina and the handle is beginning to fade, but I'm not sure it is showing up in the pics. So far it is doing yeoman work.

That's the "legend" I've always heard, but I don't recall ever trying it with my knife.

So at suppertime tonight, I got a bottle of Killian's Irish Red and tried to open it with the shoe of the lady leg knife. I succeeded eventually, but it took me several attempts to make the front of the heel get a firm grip on the lower edge of the bottle cap. I think I'd do better the next time I tried, but it's not the most efficient bottle opener I own. I feel a little burr on the heel. I don't know if it has always been there, or whether trying to grip the cap edge with the relatively soft (?) bolster material (nickel silver and brass liner) already put noticeable "wear and tear" on the heel.

FWIW, the beer bottle had a twist-off cap, but I've often opened those with a cap lifting tool, usually an old-fashioned "church key".

That's the right tool for the job! Thank you for doing the experiment, though.

I'm gonna try to carry the 14 for a week or so. It's such a a pretty knife, but I just like the 15 so much better.

The two bladed #14 is what really sold the pattern to me. I was never the biggest fan of them until I got my hands on one of those. If you get the chance, I’d definitely recommend giving one a try.

I may already have one of those two bladed sheepsfoot ones they released late last year.

Happy Saturday all!
Ya know, I didn't think I would like the feel of acrylic that much, I was wrong.
Nice surprise.
