Wait...which one is katalox. The black knife has the grain structure, but, my Albers katalox is brown. Not even a little bit black. OTOH the brown knife has a completely different grain

I had the Remington with me today, then I came home to find the 97 waiting for me.

Here's mine:

To my eye the grain structures look the same, but mine is a bit darker. I also rub mineral oil into the handles of all my wood handled knives, which does darken them. You’ve got a beauty there!

Great knife! I generally prefer no shield, but if it has to have one the wrench may be my favorite. That, or there was one with a donkey, can’t remember the model of that one right now. I should have grabbed a wrench back when they were available.

ETA, it was the Krack-a-Jack knife from a while back with the donkey shield!

Actually the Katalox is on the left and the other is Tasmanian Blackwood. As SteveC pointed out, I had a senior moment and called it African Blackwood. Sorry for the confusion.
