What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It’s been really dry here in the northwest. I’m using a lot of water just to try to keep the grass somewhat green. The plants are doing OK though, even this scientist thinks so🌻

Been busy again, here's the week in knife pics

Tiny two-blade and Tidioute Tuesday. I was packing up this lovely Brooks saddle I sold on Feebay (sad to sell an old friend, but my arse prefers the Team Pro to this B-17, plus the hammered copper rivets on the Team Pro are bigger). I needed some cardboard with holes punched in it to hold zip ties and protect the saddle from box-wear. Luckily, I came prepared! The awl makes lovely holes in cardboard! I was smiling by this point in time. Grabbed the PSK (fixed blade) and started slicing the cardboard to fit, and I thought of how this would make Jeff @Amir Fleschwund wince. I smiled even bigger and cut some more pieces ;)

Ironwood Wednesday. The 74 has really surprised me, it was outside my wheelhouse and I bought it after a big sale and a few drinks 😜 It has quietly, handily, become the only single blade GEC that I carry on a regular basis.

Three-blade Thursday, or not-very thrifty Thursday. Cheered me up for sure, we all know how *amazing* Dave's work is (don't we?!).

Friday Forum knife / favorite functional pair. I am so amazingly grateful for this 34, which continues to grow on me with use. I even like the splintery bone that is slowly disintegrating where my knife bangs against things through my pocket. If we don't get a forum knife this year, I'll just fondle this one and be happy.

Make this weekend the best it can be Porchsters!
Well done with your choices FC.👌

Your Joker is definitely wearing a fine coat Gary. I also like the blade shape.😎
Thanks, Bob. :) I also like the blade shape, although I'm not a big fan of a saber grind.

...

Beautiful horn there Gary. And a very interesting assortment of tools on that work knife.

While I cannot attest to the reasons for a MI company calling it soda instead of pop, I can tell you that if you ever try it, it is not like any ginger ale out there. It will spoil you for sure. It’s essentially ginger ale meets cream soda with a real ginger taste. i stopped drinking soda/pop years ago but Vernors is the only exception from time to time or if I’m sick.

Soda, pop, I don’t mind either; as long as you don’t call everything ‘coke’… 😆

Viper today. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Thanks for the kind words about my knives, Jeremy. :)
I've never tried opening a can with that combo can/bottle opener on the work knife. Bonus tool not shown in my photo: the pile side of the main blade has a little ruler on it!

Interesting description of the taste of Vernors. As a Michigan native, I've had it, but that was probably at least 50 years ago, so I don't remember its taste. I almost never drink soft drinks anymore, except for Mountain Dew on long drives when I need the caffeine.

I've heard that there are places "down South" where the generic name for soft drinks is "coke".

Your Viper looks to have a deadly sharp tooth!:thumbsup::cool:

Your Sabre camp knife is very appealing, José!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Is that a recent find?

Taylor’s Eye Witness and a Schrade.
Outstanding pair, Jeff; I always admire the walnut on your TEW!:cool::thumbsup:

Love a 32 stockman pattern. For some reason, the 18s (the most popular?) just don't give me the fizz. 🤷‍♂️

I'm with you, I like the square bolsters.
Great bone/jigging on your '32 stockman, Chris!:cool::thumbsup:
But I have a strong preference for rounded bolsters over square, so I'd take a Case '18 stockman over a '32 in a heartbeat. ;)

I hope I'm not the only one wishing for Fall.
That's a great blade/frame combo, Bob! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I'm sure you're not alone in wishing for Fall, Bob, but I'm not joining you in that wish. I wait about 8 months (October through May) for warm weather to return - I much prefer temps in the 80s and 90s to temps in the 50s and 60s (or lower).

This has been my year for AC failures 🥵 The heat pump at the Tennessee trailer has cooled its last. The ac in the PT Cruiser (Tennessee car) quit, and when the local shop estimated a repair bill of $1300, I told them I'd just roll the windows down like we did back in the day

Then on Monday, the hottest day of the year, my Missouri ac malfunctioned. It would blow cold, but only for 4 or 5 minutes at a time. Its a big window unit, so this morning I pulled it out of the window. Its filthy. Really filthy

The designers made it almost impossible to clean the cooling fins without complete disassembly 🤬 I'm going to do the best I can without complete disassembly and hope for the best 🤞

One of the implements of destruction is the RR hoof pick knife. Real handy for getting in those little nooks and crannies 🐴
Sorry to read about your AC problems, Mike. 😲
Hard to believe we got AC for our house fewer than 20 years ago. And although my wife has had vehicles with AC since 1989, and we'd use those for family trips, my solo driving was always in vehicles without AC until 2010, I think.

Striking horn covers, LT! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Do they really have "ridges and valleys" or is that an optical illusion caused by the "feathering" in the horn?

running in a similar vein, my traditional knife for today has been a Case humpback stockman. This one is in ebony.
Bw7JvtD.jpg
Frank, I'm very happy with my pocket worn harvest orange bone humpback stockman, but your ebony version is a step up in classiness IMHO!:thumbsup::cool:
Speaking of "similar vein", your humpback and my Imperial stockman I posted the same day both appear to be photographed on old wooden pallets.😁

Bonus pic of the day. 😉

Cool photo and knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Notable pair of European knives!:cool::thumbsup:

Nice choice Modoc ED Modoc ED !! I’ve got the CS version in my pocket today. What looked like a brewing storm turned into a beautiful sunset.

Cool photos!:cool::thumbsup: Your sunset photo reminds me of a sunrise over the Mediterranean photo I took in Denia Spain almost 10 years ago:

Your color change on that Winchester canoe's bone is splendid!:cool::cool:

Looked around and found this pic on AAPK. Box is labeled 6318. Case must have had some extra 10318 blades. Waste not, want not :)
I think it makes an already cool knife even cooler  👍
That's pretty weird and wonderful!:thumbsup::cool:

Should have taken a before picture. The centering was horrific on this one (almost touching the liner), but she's good to go now! No blade play afterwards. 💪🏻
View attachment 2615832
Chris, you are a braver man than me (I). I may have to invest in a small tinkers hammer. Well done.👍🏻
I agree with Bob; even though I have a rubber mallet that would probably be the right tool for the job, I don't think I have the guts to try the centering mod. o_O:oops: Good work, Chris! I also think the stag on your trapper is very typical of "contemporary Case stag" which tends to be rather smooth and creamy. Not my first choice of stag characteristics, but still good stag IMHO.:thumbsup::cool:

J Jonny D ,I forgot to add, I'm glad you found the shield for your Case peanut! Luckily it's an easy fix (I've done it myself lol) I hope you enjoyed our coastal part of the country 👍

P.S. Yes, it's been really humid down here lately, more than usual. To quote an old coworker "You don't really get used to it, you just tolerate it." 🤣
Thank you it was a great trip! Although absolutely really humid. Take it easy!

Posh knives buddy 👍🤠

Schradurday, so…
And Mitch reminded me I still have my Wenger Handyman as almost always.
Nice Schrades and garlic 👍🤠
Handsome Stag 👍🤠
I know...get that blade dirty!!
Good pair of knives 👍🤠

I just got this new Case Barlow in and promptly modified the pen blade into a sheeps foot because it was too long for the knife.

I took what I could get on the ugly grey bone because I wanted carbon steel and plan to change that ugly color, but I'll just carry it for now while I decide what color I'm going to change it too.
