What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Spears, Clips, and Lambs - oh my!

I'm making it through the day with 3 blades and six flutes in total (count 'em and see...) and an Opinel N⁰ 8 (which is doing all the work while the old ladies spectate) from our very own and very gracious Primble Primble .

Skipping church, so straight to heavy duty knives first thing.

The church band will have to get along without the lead guitar, because my daughter/tambourine player has a nasty head cold. Mom is on the rotation for picking up a couple of oldsters as well as nursery duty. Regretfully, that’s more important than me playing guitar.

I need to split that cherry for the smoker.
I hope your daughter shakes the head cold quickly. Nice carries today

Sooner than expected change. 🙄
Decided I want to carry some "good old" carbon steel.
COLT CT609 Canoe. Ti (plasma?) coated T10 blades, Black Micarta(?) covers. (no visible layers like G10 has).
IMHO a "Heavy Duty" canoe. 3mm/0.12" blade stock.

Rough Rider RE1569 MOOSE.
A former Colt knife in the came series as the Canoe. Moved to the Rough Rider line when COLT exited the cutlery market.
I don't know the old "CT" number.
Same Ti coated heavy duty 3mm T10 blades as the canoe.

I "think" Rough Rider changed to black G10 covers. There are visible layers.
I really like the extra belly Spey Blade.

CASE 3318CV Stockman.

Toferner neck knife.

Only Stainless Knife: SAK "Year Of The Ox" Huntsman.

It's an 834 weekend.
I bought these a few years ago to compare the Taylor Schrade build quality to that of the US Schrade. I found the build quality to be there, but the knives are actually different. The Taylor design primarily offsets the blades instead of crinking the sheepsfoot. I actually prefer offset blades to crinked. With an offset design, the sheepsfoot blade is in line with the handle instead of canting off to the side. Makes it easier to cut in a straight line.

Today, it's the one on the top. US Schrade.

Today it's been the one on the bottom, a Taylor-Schrade Uncle Henry 834UC Rancher.

Ed, I’m sure you know the routine. One doctor’s appointment after another. Hopefully by the end of this week they will have some definitive results and treatment options. My brother is coming in on Friday and he’ll be ready to kick the tires and light some fires! 🤞

Yeah, I know the routine Dan sf fanatic sf fanatic :( . I'll be thinking about you. WARNING !! Don't turn your back on em. Nothing more frightening or eye opening than the sound of a latex glove snapping.
