What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One more day!

Today I've got a #215124LB Bull Buster from GEC and a #1 Silly Goose from the Dominican Republic. Meet Jelly Bean.

Jelly Bean is a chiweenie (half chihuahua - half dachshund) that was displaced when Tropical Storm Karen hit the Dominican Republic in 2019. Rescued and relocated to South Florida, she spent a few months in a cast following the breaking of her neck, by jumping off of a couch, shortly after her adoption. She made a full recovery, is five years old, weighs 13 pounds, and is very feisty. She likes dehydrated chicken treats more than knives.

Of all the knives I've had the pleasure of knowing, this 21 has been more resistant to "breaking in" than any other. The red linen micarta has seemingly not mellowed in time at all and glares as brightly, like a stop sign in the high beams, as on the day I received it. The action refuses to become "glassy" despite excessive fondling and lubrication. I've taken to using it in the yard in a fruitless attempt to get it to smooth out but I can almost hear it laughing at me. I'm convinced that had it been done in stainless, it would look identical to how it slid from the tube. Oh well, I'll keep trying!
Awesome job rescuing Jelly Bean. Glad she made a full recovery

My wife and I are away from home this week and next, and I decided to "suspend" my usual weekly rotation schedule that prescribes which knives I should carry each week. Instead, I selected some knives for the trip that I thought deserved some special attention of one kind or another. That includes 10 knives I bought last month that I haven't used much (if at all) so far, nor have I taken many photos of them. I also brought along 3 knives which aren't as sharp as I wish they were, hoping that I can improve that situation away from my normal routines at home.

I haven't posted photos of many of these knives this week in this thread because so far, the wifi in the cottage we're renting has been very disappointing and frustrating with regard to posting photos.

I'll try posting a photo of an oriental Queen City abalone canoe that I bought last month. Here goes nothing ... Hey! It worked!
