What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Went for a little adventure today. I brought my new Case 47 in carbon steel, Case did a good job on this specific knife. Visited an area that my father and I used to go to a lot, in a decade not much has changed. I think this overlook is new and in town the sporting goods store isn't in the back of the grocery store anymore, it's now in a separate building.
Nice stockman. Always enjoyed rafting by the Delaware Water Gap.

If you’re new, you can post directly from the message dialouge box. Click the Paperclip Attach Files box, lower left. Select photo library and attach the one you want. Select Full Image. You can do that for a while, but you’ll eventually hit your limit. Most of us have, so are using outside photo sharing sites. I’m happy with postimg.com because it’s easy and free. Also, no account/tracking/who has my data? If you care about that…

That method requires a paid membership.

In this dialog box, I don't have the paperclip icon. I have the option of posting from an image hosting site because it is asking for an IRL and does not show an option to browse for a file. Oh well.

Was trlmming the majestic (read "massive") seagrape tree in my front yard this morning. Trimming a tree this sprawling is more of a marathon than a sprint, and this is the worst time of year for it with daily rain nearly a certainty. It could take a month to complete. Between the weather delays, the heat, and the intensity of the work; hydration and patience are critical.

With humidity hovering around 67% and high potential for a soaking, I tend to go for synthetics for outdoor work in South Florida's climate.

Took this pic in between the early-morning storm and the mid-afternoon storm.

Got a GECC 39 and stag 93 today.

Unique and memorable 93, Paul! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

What can I say? I know you all have seen these a dozen times. 🥴

And I've enjoyed looking at them each and every time! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary
both fine gifts fom Bob & Paul. Not sure what the climber is but grows quick.
:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Yes, I just read the jackknife incident. Not to make light of the story but I think the moral is "Don't steal someone's jackknife".
I think this is the incident you're referring to, Gary. I wonder what kind of jackknife it was......
Zhc7ScN.jpeg
Yep, that's how the incident starts, Gary, and there are unexpected aftereffects. I think parts of the whole story may come out in different chapters, although I don't remember learning specifics about the type of jackknife. :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. I was starting to think I was immune but no such luck.
Natural and permanent immunity to all COVID variants would definitely be some major good luck, Bart! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Out and about for a little while today with the Frankenlifter

Looks like the cattle admire that knife so much that they're lining up single-file to walk by and get a closer look! :cool::thumbsup:😁

My mean, green, fightin' machine.😁
I know, put it to work, to get that etch off.

Verdant and vigorous, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I often like the looks of a green knife, but I have very few of them. Another of life's mysteries! :rolleyes:

Unless you "found [your] mind in a brown paper bag within".
Good point! 🤓:thumbsup:
I forgot about Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.
"I woke up this morning with the sundown shining in"

An Egg-cellent knife 🤓

Mods please don’t ban me, I couldn’t help it.
Well-said, Jack! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

For Wooden Wednesday, my Cocobolo Camillus Jack and my Hardedge Knives Rosewood "Intruder" fixed blade.
I bought the Intruder from one of the craftsmen over in our Knifemaker's exchange ....... about ten years back. 😊

GT ..... that's my old oak fence board in the fixed blade pic ................. which later got cut up for the bird house. I regret it. :(
Thanks for the rerun of that old photo with the legendary board, Rob! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Good old Jake!
I did a double-take! :cool:🤓:thumbsup:

Terrific twosome, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Haven’t completed my move yet, so everything is still boxed up. This Imperial has become a trusted companion and has earned a permanent place in the edc lineup.View attachment 2647510
Good to hear, Alan! I have several "cheap" Chinese Imperials that I think far out-perform their prices. :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Off to Lakeview, Oregon in a bit for another one of those pesky appointments with the doctor for Cindy. Sausage and eggs for breakfast before we go. It'll be an Ebony Sowbelly for this adventure.

Belated Happy Birthday, ED! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I read in a different thread that you got yourself a big Case stockman as a gift; congrats!
Seems like you and Cindy (and Medicare, I suppose) are keeping food on the table for a lot of medical professionals this week! 😲

It’s a wet foggy morning here. This MBK knife just came in. It might be too arty or ahem gas stationy even for a fancyphile like me. I suspect the aesthetics will grow on me. I don’t have a knife like this so what the heck. The blade is K390. So it will get a nice patina. It came as sharp or sharper than any knife I have. I’m not sure about the blade surface grind. I think that look has become a thing. And I sure would have liked a swedge. Blades like this look unfinished to me. Walk and talk is fine except the closing from the half stop is a little weaker than I’d like. Would I buy it again? Yup.

Congrats on the intriguing new knife!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: For some reason, the handle made me think of a screwdriver handle shape, and then I thought I'd actually like a folding knife with a screwdriver-type handle.:rolleyes:

That's a classic Case '47, a splendid stockman IMHO! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Wondrous wood, Steve!

Here's another photo of the RR silver sparkle medium stockman, showing that even something as visually stimulating as "silver sparkle" can be a camo cover material in the proper surroundings:

My 2nd boy could have used a choke collar, but Vik wouldn’t let me.

I should have brought that Catt with me. Just to class up the joint.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Looking forward to seeing your classy Catt Jeff. I keep expecting to see it every day and so far it's a no go. ;) 😊
98 degrees here this afternoon. 🥵

Thanks for the clarification, Rob. Any chance your son was a little kid who'd run away and laugh at you? That would be "justice". 🤓

I'm usually not a big fan of Barlows, or clip blades, but that Remington sure gives me nostalgic feelings!

- GT

LOL GT .......... my son didn't go through that phase, fortunately for me. 🤣
Thanks for the comments. I would expect you to be a fan of spear blades, since you favor a Canoe. 😊 I love clip blades.

You should! 🤣 But seriously great combo and really cool fixed blade! 😍

This is on my rotted out porch at work. 🤣

Thank you my friend and you certainly are right about me trashing my old favorite background. In my own defense, (kinda a defense) .......... I left that board outside in the shade for too long and it got a bad case of mildew. When I scrubbed it off, it lost it's appeal and I cut her up and made a home for a pair of Wrens. 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

That pair of blacks looks nice on those grey boards. :thumbsup:😍

74 Stallion again today. Shot of the pile side complete with bone crack at center pin. It came that way from the dealer new in 2017. I filled with CA glue at the time and after 7 years and a fair amount of use, heavy and light, its been stable. :) It certainly isn't as noticeable in hand as it looks in this pic.

I've hit the point in my knife life that I only care about traditionals, fixed blades, and multitools. The best and most advanced folding knives were all I wanted and had in the beginning and now I have none unless you consider a Leatherman a folding knife.

I've done a bit of research on this, and it seems a lot of knife enthusiasts hit this point as well over time. Anyway, I have a 62 Easy Congress in Stag arriving this week, I will post a picture when it is in hand.
