Cool compass and nice ol' 78!
Don't leave it out there too long.....First day carrying this #81. The best way I know to break in a new knife is to throw it on a rock and let it rain on it.

I enjoy seeing that rustic handle, José!
Thanks for the info, Will. Congrats on the impressive new knife, and plaudits to5K Qs Thanks Gary, this was a recent delightful gift from Yann in France
It's stabilized Elm or Orme in French. Big n'Burly

Thanks for the info, Steve; fantastic golden horn! It's Ram's Horn. It's a re-handle done by glennbad![]()
Thanks for sharing what you've found out, Chris!GT, it sounds like you know as much about it as I do!All I can tell you is that it's a vintage-ish? German knife, but you could probably tell that by looking at it. Not much info out there about "Cole's" that I can find. I also picked up a "Senator" stockman a while back. These oddly branded Solingen knives are quite interesting! Uh oh.

I like the unique perspective in that photo, Jeff!Camillus Friday.

Autumn seems to be unfolding as per expected based on the the fact that I got to put in an afternoon in my “guitar shop” instead of in the garden, so have a fine autumn day.
And spring day for our Southern Hemisphere friends.
I know what you mean.View attachment 2671702
I'm sorry if it gets boring seeing the same knife from me but I thoroughly enjoy this knife. It resonates so well with what I like and want from a traditional slipjoint.
ED and Jim, those are a couple of VERY handsome and useful stockman knives; I'm real fond of the '47 model, and amber bone almost always looks good.CASE 6347 SS Stockman rides into the night ~~~

Good evening…it’s hurricane cleanup Friday y’all. Helene decided to visit my town and hover a while. I didn’t tote this today. But after I was done chainsawing till my ears bled, it was nice to handle some fine cutlery
...
Hurricane Helene invited Mr. Pinetree to a pool party. I’m always down for a pool party.

Problem is, he didn’t use the gate, and he totally disrespected my fig tree in the process. He fell right in the center of it and crushed the pool fence. But I was very blessed to have no trees on the house.

Jon and Zach, I'm glad you and yours are safe, and I hope the clean-up/fix-up is not too time-consuming and expensive.EchoingJonMcD , doing some property repairs & cleanup after Hurricane Helene came through & clipped the Carolina's on her way through here.

We didn't get hit directly but the winds were still bad enough to damage a lot. It blew some siding & the shutters off of the front of our house. I found one shutter at the neighbors property, I have no idea where the other shutter flew off to...
I'm repairing some damaged fence today. Luckily we have power now. Both my parents & in-laws are still without since yesterday morning... They are currently running generators for basic amenities.
At my grandfather's property a tree fell & took out his carport along with his truck & two tractors. You can barely see his pickup, a blue Ford tractor & an antique red IH Farmall Cub under the mess.

I hope everyone in the South-East U.S. is doing ok after the storm, & also our friends abroad. Be safe everyone.

Thanks Bart. As I’ve heard about how bad the damage was north of us in the Asheville area, I realize how blessed we all were here to only have power outages and some trees down. The flooding there is devastating.I hate to see all that damage, Jon, but at least you’ve kept your sense of humor through it all. Hope the family is okay.
Thanks brother. Several days of gettin after it + ibuprofen = mostly gathered into burn piles.Sorry about the damage. Thankful the damage is to items that can be repaired or replaced.
Yessir. I have some fun projects slated for the pine logs. And yes…I had all four sweatin’ and driving the tractor and the mule around. Makes it fun for me. I pretty much just run the saw and they clean up the rest.Hey Amigo ~ both are great as usual, but I scrolled back a couple of times to see your barehead jack.
Maybe GEC had @SteveC’s Challenge Cutco jack in front of them during the drawing board stage?
I feel great about having that Forum Knife as well, Frank.
With that knife, a guy could almost go without a SAK in his other pocket.
Thanks to Dutch Elm Disease, and Emerald Ash Borer, I feel your pain. Too bad to lose the pine. Hopefully you have lots more.
I find lots of uses for the logs, but trimming and cleaning up the slash is …
tedious.
It’s great to have kids to help, huh?
Excellent pics of a TL-29 in the wild.
Good year for apples, eh?
If I made a guess, it would be ~
The blank that the cutler used on your knife was rescued from the cutoff pile in a mill where they made very Exibition Grade gunstocks. Lovely piece of wood, Yann.
After we got everything cleared away, the damage was much less than we feared. We were very fortunate. No need to get insurance involved for us.I enjoy seeing that rustic handle, José!
Thanks for the info, Will. Congrats on the impressive new knife, and plaudits toCorto_Malt for his generosity!
Thanks for the info, Steve; fantastic golden horn!
Thanks for sharing what you've found out, Chris!
Uh oh, indeed!

I know what you mean.
I find myself carrying a marlinspike knife very frequently because a hefty sheepsfoot blade and a "pokey" tool are such a useful combination.
ED and Jim, those are a couple of VERY handsome and useful stockman knives; I'm real fond of the '47 model, and amber bone almost always looks good.
Jon and Zach, I'm glad you and yours are safe, and I hope the clean-up/fix-up is not too time-consuming and expensive.
Will insurance cover some of the "minor" damage like smashed fences and torn-up siding, and major damage like Zach's grandfather's carport and vehicles?
That Rough Rider scout and Camillus electrician are a couple of solid workers!
Superb stag pair, David!
I don't recall ever seeing such a skinny, barehead, big bolster clippoint knife, with such nice stag, from Wright!
Notable pair on a notable post, Steve; outstanding stag on that lambsfoot!
Top shelf jigging on that one, José!
Classy copperlock, Jer!
Is that a full-size copperlock, or a mini (and is there a good way to tell the difference between them if you're looking at a pic of just one without much in the way of contextual size clues)?
Hail to the Chief! Splendid knife, Jim!
Really like the fake stag on that one!!
Yeah, Chris, I suppose I'm pretty predictable (just like a good knife
). Definitely a canoesseur!
Good Gracious, grand grain!!

Thank you!Great knives and photos!![]()
Thank you. The tang stamp certainly would suggest that, but I’m not able to find any evidence of the model 89 before the 70s. I’ve scoured over the internet to get lookin for infor on short lined 89s but haven’t found anythin really helpfulUnless I’m mistaken, which has occurred at least once before, your Camilus is around 75 years old ~ based on the short line tang stamp. Nice knife!
