It’s also planting time. Not the spinach and kale I just started that will pop up as soon as the snow melts next spring, it’s planting time for the tree rats. They are busy planting walnuts in my garden. Along with the mulberry seeds that the birds poop into my garden, it gives me something to do next year digging them out.Harvest time![]()
Very nice photos Jeff.

Love that early Schrade wire jack. Shame no one makes a wire jack anymore.

Well I appreciate the suggestion Bart, and I *wish* I could find a handsome older Stanley like yours. The plain jane new ones are 6$ now, doesn't seem a good value. So what razor knife *does* pass muster here? Funny you should ask! Dug this out of one of my toolboxes the other day, doesn't look like I ever used it. I must have had a pocket full of money back in the heyday of Home Despot (before it sucked) and it was doubtless on sale. Stainless integral lockback with rosewood inlay, brass pins, and pivot rides on adjustable bearings. I covered the naughty bit to make it Porch-appropriate. If you must sin, do it in style Porchitarians! If you’re talking about a utility blade knife, you should get a cool, old Stanley. Much more character than the modern ones and more fun to use because of it.
