Indeed the 1960's were a different time. Image stumbled upon today while uploading the above images to Imgur.
Last known professional modeling image of Marilyn Monroe, July 13 1962 that I placed on a background of seashells
(although the sweater looks too warm for Southern California in July)
Santa Monica Beach, Photo: / George Barris
Truly hard to believe the photo of Marilyn was taken over 60yrs ago ... or that I have a pocket knife some 60yrs old that looks so good
... or that Marilyn would have been 98yrs old this year

Beautiful example Mr.P..😍

Thank you Mr. R. ............. a very nice Mango lamb you're toting. 😍

I had a suspicion it predated S&R's use of "Craftsman".
A fantastic Robeson.

Thank you my friend. I would expect that Robeson would have called that knife model something else if they could have seen into the future. It is a really solid old knife.😊
I like the back story that came with it too. I purchased it from the Grandson of a Camillus cutler, who inherited his Grandpa's knife collection.

These are with me everyday when I leave the house.

The Catcherman lives in a pouch velcro'ed in the right hand holster pocker on mt 5/11 vest. The Cold Steel Mini-Pal serves as a zipper pull, the CRKT K.I.S.S. serves as a money clip, and the Leatherman Squirt is always in my watch pocket. These are not used when I reach for a knife but rather serve as safety and rescue tools.

Today I am wearing carpenter jeans. a bit roomier than my regular jeans so I picked out a larger knife to drop in my front pocket to handle the mundane cutting chores today. And of course a color coordinated lighter, a nice vintage Scripto...:D

Wait...what? Zipper pull? Show us!

At first glance I thought, "Woah...spyderco with a flip out palm dagger," ha

Long day, walked 13.6 miles today, and I haven't posted in this thread yet! Where are my priorities??
I'll post a couple of knives here, get my bedtime trio of glaucoma drops, and hit the silk!
I already posted my canoes of the week, but there are more where they came from! 🤓:cool:

I wonder if that beauty is one of the c.1963 - 1969 RJR Prince Albert promotion knives that cost under $3.⁰⁰ (excluding the cans of Prince Albert)?
If memory serves, they had the "Old Timer" shield.
(I think the same age Coppenhagen promotional knives (also made by Ulster) had a "Coppenhagen" shield.)

The RJR Prince Albert knives were an "Ulster Old Timer". A "Scout Knife" was one of the four options available.

Not all Ulster's made during that period were Old Timer's.

Yesterday, I was reminded that the porch's friendships span the globe.
I received this sweet #14 from Jack@hatchet_jack. I cannot express my thanks enough.
It will be carried as a reminder of how the world can be, with more people like Jack living in it.
Much gratitude Jack.🫡20241024_175000.jpg
