What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Bonus pic:
If y'all were wondering what I was doing with the jalapenos... The Mrs. is getting together with some friends later this afternoon & I got "Volunteered" to prepare some jalapeno poppers of mine...
Halved & filled with a blend of cream cheese, pepper cured bacon, sauteed garlic & other seasonings. We prefer to grill or bake them. They are much better than deep frying that way.
Be careful of what you get good at I guess... 🙄😂

Love it!

View attachment 2707085View attachment 2707086This was my great grandfather’s knife. My dad gave it to me this summer when he found it while cleaning the basement of the farmhouse. It was in rough shape but I’ve slowly been working on getting it cleaned up. Still have a way to go but today I felt I was far enough along to toss her in the pocket.

Priceless.
A workhorse and a fruit machete.

Yeah, but which is which?🧐
Two years ago, at the Badger Blade Show, one of our Traditional Porch members purchased multiples of those Schrades ~ I think both 5OT, and 7OTs in the original green Delrin. Fiddling around with them confirmed it’s a fine, solid piece of knife.
Names redacted to protect the innocent.
🎵One of these is not like the other... One of these just doesn't belong...🎵

Sounds good with bacon. I usually mix bowl of half cream cheese, half Mex. melting cheese, and garlic, and stuff poblanos. Even better if the smoker is going.

Don’t be pretending you don’t like a bunch of ladies gushing over your wife’s husband😗

They look and sound freakin’ delicious!

Thanks y'all.
If you want to make them they are pretty simple.
Set out the cream cheese at room temp to soften & then halve the jalapenos & remove the seeds & ribs (that's where most of the heat is). Then just precook the bacon (oven or pan, your choice) & dice it up separately. While the bacon is cooking I finely chop up some garlic & saute it in a pan with butter (or oil of your choice). Then just combine everything with the softened cream cheese along with salt/pepper/other seasonings (chipotle powder is nice btw)
After that just fill the peppers with the mixture & bake/grill at 350-375°F for about 20 mins or so, just untill they start to get golden brown on top & watch so the bottom doesn't burn.
Sorry for the vagueness, I guess I'm just taking after my parents & grandparents when I ask them for a recipe, a handful here a scoop there... You gotta use your best judgement...😬😂

Helpful hint: Rubber gloves of some kind are worth their weight in gold when cutting up peppers. Not just for your hands but to keep from spreading the pepper oil on other stuff.

Anyway, keeping it on the knife track, here's a fun pic from the kitchen workspace 😉

Sounds great! I love Poblanos too! Sometimes I'll also take a Cubanelle pepper & put some marinated chicken breast & stuff it in the center & grill those low & slow. Everything is better cooked with a wood fire 👍

And yes 😂 , The Mrs also gets a kick out of her friends talking about me in private. She's told me about some of the conversations when I'm not in the room. I try to be a jack of all trades & full of surprises 😉

Happy cooking!
Thanks for the info. Might have to make these as part of the Christmas dinner, since that falls in my lap. I can't convince my northern(wanted to type something else but back spaced out the yan) family to eat good southern traditional food. Small steps will get it done

If we didn’t have this wonderful disease called collecting…the 5OT would be a stellar choice for a daily driver that stayed perpetually in the pocket until it hit the dust.
