What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today makes for a very special Friday Favorites. Today after 47 years, 7 months and 25 days on the same job I was told my services were no longer needed as part of a worldwide reduction in force and I’m officially unemployed for the first time since I was 15. And I couldn’t be happier. I was scheduled to retire in June and now I’m getting paid to retire 5 months early. It’s just now starting to sink in. I received a very satisfactory severance package as a parting gift. I was treated with the utmost dignity and respect which was greatly appreciated. Now I’m sitting around in my flannel PJs and ratty hoodie enjoying a nice Assam tea and reading a good book. People are always asking me what I plan to do when I retire. I’m not one that has an issue staying busy. Here’s a short list:
  • Cook more often
  • Scan old photos
  • Start working on the Payne family genealogy
  • Spend more time with my babies
  • Help Mom with her garden
  • Volunteer at Pedal It Forward
  • Ride more
  • See things I hadn’t seen before more often
  • Finish my project bike and sell it and the last project that’s still hanging up in the basement
  • Sell a bunch of knives that I don’t like or carry
  • Worry less
  • Care more

Congrats on your retirement! That’s a great list of things you plan on doing during your retirement. I have been retired for 3 or 4 years I’ve kinda lost track. There was only one thing on my list, work on becoming a Professional Napper. It’s an ongoing project 😜.

After 20 Dan, I almost have it perfected. My new lazy boy should help me ace it.😁

Congrats on " Getting A Package " . You now will not get a Vacation as you knew it . But I hope you have as much fun as I have had in my retirement . I expect that you too will get some surprises when you go through your ancestors .

Napping is certainly a skill that I have not mastered and will require some training.

I was going to say naps 😴 Don't forget naps, but I see a couple of people beat me to it. Congrats on your retirement 🥳 I've thoroughly enjoyed being retired 😃

Congrats on the retirement, pain, and especially because you already have the "stay active thing" figured out. After 60 you can go downhill soooo quickly!
I've had these two today, off and on.
