What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Beguiling Böker Barlow, José! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Is that part of their Beer Barrel series, with handles made from wood taken from old beer barrels?

It's been this Buck for over five months, and this Pioneer for going on three years.

I admire your commitment to that pair as daily carries! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Simple but distinctive knife, Bob, with the big spear, the shadow pattern, the EO notch, and the rich jigging. :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Bone handle?

Some folks might remember a number of years ago some folks would do a challenge of some sort just for the fun of it. Or to prove a point, mostly to themselves. One gentleman said he was going to challenge himself to carry nothing but a Peanut for one year. I decided to do the same. I was reminded of that challenge the other day. So I pulled out one of my Peanuts. I really do like these knives. And for folks that say they are to small to do anything with. I say BULL. I did everything I needed to do for a year with just a Peanut. You might have to think about how to do something a little differently. But you can do it. Don't believe me? Take up the challenge.

Tim & Bill, the pocket-wear and color of the jigged bone on your vintage Case knives makes them look like jewels! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

How's your snowcover, Ed? Over by here, as we mourn the passing of winter, we have the sad sight of the snow melting off the roof.

Orange bone Rough Rider stockman in the pocket as I happily watch the snow melt in 50 degree temps today. :)

The snow melted and the crocus blooms. Good trade.

Jeff reacted to the recent midwestern warm-up quite differently than did Greg and M majorpain1 , and I have to say I'm siding with the latter two gents on this one! ;):thumbsup:
Through the first 3 weeks of February (last Friday), we had only 3 days with high temp above freezing (and they were all in the first week of the month). Over that same period, we had only 3 days in which we didn't get any snow (sometimes only a "trace" and no day more than a quarter-inch). So I've had to shovel snow almost every day, and none of it was melting, so the pile onto which I threw the snow from my driveway just kept getting higher. Here's a photo I took last Thursday from the from corner of my garage farthest from the house toward the opposite corner of the driveway where it meets the alley at a corner of the back yard. Behind me in the photo, the garage of the neighbor whose driveway is next to ours is about 5 feet away, so there's almost no room for piling snow between the 2 driveways. So I end up shoving all of the snow from my driveway (which is about 20'x 30', divided down the middle both ways by "joints" in the cement) all the way across the driveway and the throwing it over the chainlink fence into the back yard. You can see that I have quite a pile down there.

In fact, even though I have refined my snow-throwing technique over the years, I'm getting to an age when I just can't get as much height or distance as I used to. And the pile has gotten to a size where I can't throw new snow over the top any more! You'll notice that right next to the fence I have space before the pile starts, but that's my insurance in case we get 8-12 inches some night that I have to put somewhere. I really count on getting periodic meltdowns to reduce the size of my snow pile faster than the I'm adding new snow. So that's why I'm ecstatic about a few days of temps in the 40s and 50s. Here's a shot of the snow pile from where I usually stand to throw all the moved snow over the fence. The fence is standard 48" height, but standing on the brick wall which is at least a foot tall, so I have to get my shovel up over 5 feet kind of quick to avoid hitting the fence!

Before yesterday it was about 14 straight days of 12 hour shifts. Back to the grind today and packing up in the last hour, as the movers will be here on Friday. Only a 10 min. drive away but, it all must go. And sadly, I’ve been busy providing support meals for the emergency management organization here in state for the last two weeks. Staying in hotels and park facilities, I have hardly been home to get packed. Oh well, such as life. Two sheepsfoot blades today. View attachment 2800928
I hope you get a break soon! 😲
Those are a couple of my favorite RR sheepsfoot patterns! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

These 2 they arrived in the mail a few hours ago and now in my pocket.

Congrats on a couple more "new" vintage knives; you sure manage to hunt down some nice old specimens! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

That’s everything a stockman should be Gary! 👍🏻
Thanks, Lance. :) I've become pretty picky in my old age about what I like in a stockman, and I probably wouldn't have bought that square-bolstered 63032 if it weren't for the fact that I'll go for a Case chestnut jigged CV model whenever I get a chance.:rolleyes:

Have a good one, Fellas! 👊

Speaking of which, that's a nice Case medium stockman you're carrying, Chris! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I think it's very similar to the one I have this week, right down to the blade rub scratches on the sheepsfoot. Yours might have a darker version of chestnut bone than my more "orangey" one; I tend to prefer your dark version.

View attachment 2801046My only Boker, currently. I’m hoping to find a 6066 to go with it, perhaps at an upcoming show. 🤞🏻Lance
Good luck in your Böker hunt, Lance! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I guess I forgot to hit the post button yesterday.

I have a CT scan later this afternoon. Right now I'm waiting on a call back from the nurse of specialist #2 to set up an appointment. Specialist #1 saw something in the very extensive blood work she ordered that she didn't like and referred me to specialist #2. At least things are happening 😜
I hope you can shake whatever they figure out you have ASAP, Mike! :thumbsup:
Those lingering maladies can wear you down!

It's been awhile since I carried this Victorinox pocket pal, and I always forget how perfect the walk and talk is.

This is the one that made me love pen knives, and I really need to start carrying it more.
Superb little pen knives!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I think I currently have 3 of them; can't seem to resist them when I get a chance to get another.

Beautiful brace of knives, Bob! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

A nice morning in Santa Cruz. Took a K’roo Canoe with me.

Wahoo!
Brand New
4 U??
:thumbsup::thumbsup:🤓

I’m carrying something a little different today. Last Friday Mrs. Crappie ordered one of the blue bone Rosecraft Barlows for herself and this rosewood Loom Fixer for me. Of course you all know about the great fit and finish on these and the D2 steel. I think it’s a good solid working knife and at $60 a pretty decent deal.

Congrats on the new work knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
IMHO, tough to beat a big sheepsfoot with a swayback handle!

Nice lamb, GT!!!
Thanks, Chris. :)

I bought this thinking that Rosecraft was a new American maker, and I'm not sure it wouldn't be better as a jack, but it's an excellent knife that I like a lot.

Excellent knife indeed, Jer! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
If I were going to order a Rosecraft knife, I'm pretty sure that's the model I'd go for.

Really nice fake stag on your whittler! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Just finished my daily PT and I’m making steady progress towards some sense of normalcy. With a nod to Wooden Wednesday a EA Lamb and Opinel that’s 40+ years old. Have a great day folks!😀View attachment 2802622View attachment 2802623
Good to hear that you're seeing progress with the PT, Dan! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Vibrant vintage Opinel!

This one today for wooden wednesday (although I have been carrying it every other day recently). I hope everyone has a good rest of the week!
