What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Old Ulster

I like the simplicity of my 15 boys knife.

I've found its a good orange peeler and a nicer patina is the result.

Here in the grounds of the very old Wallingford Castle (isnt everything in England).

Had a cup of tea and scone in Waitrose, the waitress was a young Ukranian girl I was impressed with her calmness and quiet dignity.

Those I have met in England have been hard working and grateful, with a determination to return when they can though you can see a sadness in them they try to hide..

Here is a photo of me with the Ukranian Paras in Sarajevo 1995 I think.

Traditional bayonet in the teeth to keep it topical (not me im the one in the vest posing with the MG light support weapon 🤭 I had decided it was safer to dress as an obvious civilian even if I didnt look cool 😎).

The 11 Dollar Randolph Aviators from the US PX have been everywhere with me and are still going strong.
I have a spare pair but never needed them,Best shades ever, they fit in a motorbike helmet with ease.

A sunny and hazy day here in the City by the Bay! You know that you’re retired when the only thing on your plate is watching some golf. Keeping me company the Harvey Special a Yellow Rose. Have a great weekend folks! 😀View attachment 2819529View attachment 2819530
Next time you are in town I would love to see some photos of those really steep hills and trams you are famous for.

Have you ever traced any of the roads Steve McQueen did his stunts on?

I like reading stories of members here. Thank you.

Now, about that beaver shielded drop point…beautiful!! 😱
Thanks, friend. Due to my advancing age I seem to have more stories than a story book. 😀Stag KK open - 1.jpeg
I'm fond of the beaver shield too, goes well with jigged wood scales IMO but also nice on bone. There are several others I wish I had, especially the GEC 39 version.
That being said after spending my morning over at the shop I felt the urge to carry some Saturday stag when I got back home. Got out this old Kissing Cranes whittler, touched up the edge and pocketed it for the rest of the day. :)

Awesome assortment of knives. All standouts but the scroll work bolsters on the pocket carver and the Bailey FB really got my attention.
What is the length of the Bailey? looks like that perfect size between too big and too small.
Thank you. The Bailey was a one off custom order that Matt made for me within my specs many years ago. It is 7.5” overall and 3 1/8” cutting edge. He did a fantastic job!

It looks like he has been posting some newer knives that are very similar to this one recently. 👍🏼 It really is the perfect size between too big and too small…

I've taken as much a liking to Duluth jeans as I have traditional knives and found their 5th pocket will hold some pretty big ones horizontal. I've got this 54 in there today.View attachment 2819604
I wish GEC would make that one again cause I really like the how the linen Micarta looks on that knife. I would have them center the bar shield though if it were up to me and maybe offer it in a 53 pattern, without half stops. I remember watching those on dealer sites when GEC's were obtainable for days if not weeks.
I didn't pull the trigger then and wish I had. Nice knife and a real workhorse I bet.:thumbsup:

John the car chase jumped from one side of the City to the other. My last teaching job took me up and down Mansell Street which is pretty steep. If you watch closely at the Mansell sign McQween takes a right up the street. Then magically he next appears on The Great Highway which is across the City and where the bad guys crash and burn. The film editing on that chase scene was amazing to anyone not familiar with San Francisco.
