• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

@kyhunt I also grew up in Cass County, Illinois and, I am very familiar with Chandlerville. My dad hunted and fished all of that area in the 60s & 70s. Then, he bought a piece of property east of Bluff Springs where I grew up. We hunted out our back door, and we mostly fished the Illinois River. It was a great time and place to grow up! sunknife sunknife I also spent a lot of time in the Quincy area as a kid. To me, it was “The Big City.” In ‘87 & ‘88, I was a camp counselor at Saukenauk Scout Reservation. Those were good days! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, guys! 😁

P.S. now I wish I had a fried buffalo sandwich iykyk
Fried carp and catfish sandwiches were always on bar menus in my area. Didn't realize you were an old homie too, Crappie71. :) I spent my summers at Saukenauk too as a kid, worked there as assistant camping counselor at age 15 in 1973, great memories indeed. Still have most of my large family living in that area, mother, sister and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Small world. :)

I like reading stories of members here. Thank you.

Now, about that beaver shielded drop point…beautiful!! 😱

Stupid question probably…but I’d like to know. ☺️
What are the differences between a moose pattern and a muskrat pattern?

Muskrat generally has two identical slim/California/Turkish clip point blades. The "Improved" Muskrat has a Wharncliffe blade replacing one of the clip points.
The Moose is equipped with a Clip Point and either a Drop Point, Spear Point, or Spey blade. Both blades are full length.

EDIT: The Full Size Moose is also larger, usually 4.375 inch to 4.5 inch closed.
The Muskrat is usually 3 7/8 to 4 inch closed

I like your answer better! 🙂👍🏻

My last 2 knives in my "Week of Recent Arrivals" are two more canoes. I'll be back to my usual rotation schedule next week.
Oriental Queen canoe my daughter gave me for my birthday in December. Single spring model with 440C stainless blades.

Nice! I have that Buck canoe, and it is one slicing machine with that thin hollow grind!
