What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice looking Green Case with green in the background . Do you also remember the fresh air inlet to pop up in front below the windshield or on the side , or the 2 speed rear ends or the Mohair Upholstery ? Those were the good old days when you really had to consider doing an engine overhaul between 60,000 to 80,000 Miles .

Harry
Thanks Harry!
& No I never had much experience with that!
I was born in the 80's but I did cut my teeth learning on 1960's & 1970's era vehicles.
My main transportation back then was a 1978 4x4 F150 that was worked over with a "healthy cam" & a 1974 Dodge Challenger...so yeah...
I'm just going to go ahead & plead the fifth now 😬🤣

Yes, there's an unfortunately large list missing from the current generation... Man do I sound like I'm getting old now...

I know some of y'all may consider me a young pup on the porch, but I absolutely agree with you Rick.
I see that some kids today aren't even worried about getting a driver's license anymore. I don't know about y'all, but my dad was teaching me to drive out in an old horse pasture years before I went to get my license.
I learned all the fun stuff like the importance of those small triangle windows, manual transmissions (both on the floor & on the column), manual chokes & carburetors, how to deal with pre-power brakes & steering...
How about the high & low beam headlight switch on the floorboard!!! Stomp on = Stomp off!!! 🤣

How about a JC Penny spare tire! 🤯

Maybe that's why these old traditional knives keep calling me. Not only the nostalgia but it's something that has more soul & beauty to it.

Anyway, here's an old pic to keep the knife conversation relevant. (Case Copperlock in the South Carolina Low Country)

I remember starters on the floor board also. Tractors with hand clutches and many other things. Aw the good old days 🤣

Meanwhile, back on the topic of pocket knives we are currently carrying, this Case single blade sowbelly has been in my pocket today, a gift from Modoc ED Modoc ED , Part of the Carhartt series, it has G10 covers and "as ground" Tru-Sharp blades.

Today was my daughter Scout’s 5th birthday, which means I had her Nifebrite #15 “Scout” in my pocket (along with a burlap micarta #72).

Every year on my daughters’ birthdays, I carry the knife that I had in my pocket the day they were born, and for Scout, that was this #15. We also have a tradition of taking a picture of them with their knife every year, which I post here on the Porch, along with all the previous years’ pics, whether y’all want to see ‘em again or not. 😉😁

This was Scout’s first knife pic.

And here she is with her knife today, on her fifth birthday:

(Somehow the Bluey ears managed to make it into two years’ birthday pics.) 🤣

We had a pretty low-key day. Donuts for breakfast, then Scout went to preschool (we gave her the option to skip, but she wanted to celebrate with her friends). After that we went to the girls’ favorite toy shop so she could pick out one present on her own (which every kid’s birthday it isn’t always seems to end up with something, too). We picked up dinner from Chipotle (Scout’s choice) and watched the movie School of Rock (also her choice).
A belated Happy Birthday to Scout Barrett :) Great pics, I like all her T-shirts :D

I'm sorry I don't get a chance to post in this thread at the moment, work is keeping me busy, along with the Guardians thread of course ;) I'm carrying a unusual inter-War German-made Lambsfoot today :) Have a great week my friends

This has the exact same handle, wood, and bolster as the spear bladed Loewenmesser Harry gave to me. Lovely knife🤙
I can relate to the constraints of Father Time. Good to have you pop in here, though.

Italy today

(German company but according to the salesman this model was manufactured for them in Italy.)
By Maserin I'd guess (their Marinera model)

That's very interesting Jeff :) Thank you my friend, I hope that I'll be able to post here regularly again before too long :)

I’m carrying this delrin Case today. We’re headed to the A’s game tonight. The Angels are in town and my son is a huge fan. It’s pretty awesome to have Major League Baseball ten minutes from the house now.

You will never hear me denigrate DuPont's Delrin. And that is nice looking Delrin🤙

I tend to roll my eyes at some of the modded-up handgun/tactical gun pics with knives, but there is something very aesthetically pleasing about a bolt action rifle with a wood grain stock, and a Buck folder. Probably a lot of nostalgia mixed in, but I think that I can smell this picture as well.

Nice 112 drop point!
