What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

SAK of the Week is one of my Pocket Pals (for those interested in details, it's the one I call Pocket Pal C).

Stockman of the Week is an oriental Schrade 61OT, a 4"closed curvy knife whose official model name is Slim Premium Stockman. It's long, but lean, and carries like a dream!

It’s going to be a beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Still on the mend but I’m feeling better every day. Nothing but R&R today. Keeping me company with a nod to Micarta and Metal Monday these two. The Christy Knife is new and after a little oil on the inside tracks it opens and closes easily. Have a great week folks! 😀

One of my first purchases in Eugene was this XX Case. They don’t make em like they used to.

Notable pair, Paul! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

These two again today. I really like this combo. The f&f is good-excellent on both. The sheep’s foot is like a scalpel and I haven’t even put an edge on the other. But, it’s got the makings to be like the sheep. I think the bone handles are good to go. I have a few RRs and these 2 are in my opinion, the same quality of many/most of the Cases I’ve had over the years. View attachment 2858268
Couple of very desirable cinnamon stag bone RRs!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

44 years ago was a Saturday. That's the day I married a fine young woman. I chose well. We rented a banquet hall, or was it her Dad who paid for it? Can't remember.

This was before the unfortunate demise of live wedding bands in favor of deejays. We won a free cake and photo package at a "wedding show" I'd been dragged to, so we had extra $ to hire a good band.
So we hired a really good jazz wedding band.

The first time we met, I was playing fiddle tunes on my guitar on the front porch swing of our rented house just off campus in Urbana Illinois. She and her friend Ruth were walking by, and stopped, then came up to talk. Never forgot that she commented that I was not playing in time with the creaking of the swing.
To this day, she is my sounding board on my playing abilities, such that they are, and has been there every time I have played for an audience ~ 30 years +/- . It's usually, but not always a good review, but I always listen to her after gig comments.
It's a good thing that she appreciates knives and guitars, or she might not have worked out.

Colorful photo, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Belated Happy Wedding Anniversary, and thanks for the cool stories about the "early days"!
My wife and I are less than 2 weeks from our 40th wedding anniversary - I'm betting we'll get there.
I don't remember my wife attending ANY of my gigs (presentations at math conferences), although she has showed up for church softball games now and then. 🤓

Another nothing fancy day. I'm just stupid about clip blades. I really should be carrying the slim trapper more, since I like it so much.

Those Case slimline trappers are wonderful knives; I have one just like Boattale Boattale 's that I use often in the kitchen!:cool::thumbsup:

Congratulations!

Sometime in June, I can't remember the exact day, my wife & I will be married 78 years. Just not to each other the whole time. She was married to her ex for 25 years. I was married to my ex for 26 years. And we've been married to each other for 27 years.
That's some creative arithmetic you're using there! 🤓 Congrats to you and your wife for the upcoming marital milestone.:cool::cool:
(My dad is somewhat similar to you; he was married to my mom for 37 years, and after she died, he's been remarried to a second wife for almost that long. I've attended TWO different 25th anniversary celebrations for him.)

One of my Forum Knife favourites- 2014 . The others are 2018 and 2020. Those were the days....;)

The BF Knife from 2014 is the only one I have. It's a gift, and the member who gave it to me replaced the stag covers with some striking jigged bone before sending it to me.

Again for Thursday
If I recall correctly, you have a couple of sons at GVSU, right? Have any of you heard about the drunken knucklehead who started firing his gun through the floor of an upstairs bedroom at a party near campus and killed a student on the floor below? I think it happened a couple of weekends ago. o_O:mad:

I'm enjoying your "international series"!:cool::thumbsup:

Dave, the flowering tree is redbud, not dogwood. 🧐
That sounds better to me, Jeff.:cool::thumbsup:
When I saw your photo, I guessed redbud, since we had a couple of them in our yard a few years ago. (They both died as a result of a late season snow/ice storm, and we've replaced them with Juneberry trees.)

Breathtaking bone, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Today was my daughter Scout’s 5th birthday, which means I had her Nifebrite #15 “Scout” in my pocket (along with a burlap micarta #72).

qBy9J5G.jpg

Every year on my daughters’ birthdays, I carry the knife that I had in my pocket the day they were born, and for Scout, that was this #15. We also have a tradition of taking a picture of them with their knife every year, which I post here on the Porch, along with all the previous years’ pics, whether y’all want to see ‘em again or not. 😉😁

Belated Birthday Greetings to Scout, Barrett! Hard for me to believe she's 5 already.
I always enjoy your birthday posts for your girls.:thumbsup::cool:

Wishing you well for your surgery, Dan and a speedy recovery. I’m at home recovering from a surgery this week. Nothing major, just a hernia repair but it was much more painful and immobilizing than I anticipated. Not sure why I thought it would be so easy. Finally felt good enough today to spend a little time on the forum. Last time I was out and about I was carrying this one.

If you can stand up straight while you walk, and if laughing doesn't hurt TOO much, you're well on your way to recovery, Bart!:thumbsup:;)

I haven't seen one like that before, Chris; cool!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Outstanding wood covers on that exceptional knife, Bob!:thumbsup::cool:
I hear you're on the move; I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible.

Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Prepping for my surgery tomorrow will be taking a hiatus for a few days. Should be pretty straightforward unless the anesthesiologist is hammered and the lights go out for good😜. Today’s a double lamb day so it’s these two beauties. Have a great day folks! 😀View attachment 2875903View attachment 2875904
I’ve got this one in my pocket today.

Look at that trio of exquisite lambs!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Good news Ed I’m writing this as I sit in my LZB recliner at home! The surgery went great and I recovered enough to go home early. The last several months of PT has paid off. I’m still experiencing pain in my belly area but with pain meds it’s manageable. Thanks for your support. Hopefully I’ll get a regular post up tomorrow.
Great to see you back home again already, Dan; wonderful that the surgery went well, and I hope the recuperation is relatively easy and quick!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

sf fanatic sf fanatic @Sacto , wishing you both good outcomes!
Good luck with your cataract surgery, Jeff. My wife had hers done a while ago with good results. My Optometrist keeps telling me I'm not ready yet. I beg to differ. I asked him what I would need to do to get it done sooner. He said, "Be a truck driver." I said, "I'm a truck driver!" He didn't believe me, so I must wait until they are "ripe."
Oh, and nice knives guys!
Gary, my right eye was really bad, but they made me wait until the left eye also needed cataract surgery. I ended up waiting almost 2 years, including one summer where I "risked life and limb" trying to use one eye to chase down fly balls in the outfield of my church softball team. (The next summer I was still waiting for surgery and made the wise decision not to play ball.)

This beautiful lambsfoot that was a generous gift courtesy of Jack Black and a little Northwoods peanut that I had the pleasure of buying from Derrick Bohn.

Welcome back, Cory; superior pair of knives with some good memories attached!:cool::thumbsup:

I zoomed in, and put on a pair of cheater glasses, and looked hard. Never did figure out what you were shining your light on.
Dirt, a wood chip, a weed?
🧐

Nice Daado🤙

Yeah, you might pay for that later. But being Dad comes first.🤔

Looks like a glennbad creation?

Huh. For some reason you're thinking about pliers. 🫣

So we went camping. And while I was over there taking a knife picture to show my Blade Forum buddies, some dude wanders up and starts hitting on my wife!🤬
Jeff, your mind seems to be operating at an even more creative (and strange) level than usual! 🤓
Did they give you some powerful post-cataract prescriptions to take??
