What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Improved bunny. This is my go to rabbit skinning and gutting knife, now with a proper secondary it’ll hopefully be my go to small game knife for the rest of my days.

Exactly why I used my lawn mowing money to buy a Schrade Trapper ~ a 293Y. Rabbit hunting with an ancient .22 Crossman air rifle. Parents didn't let me have a firearm until Grandpa died. Grandma wanted me to have his guns.
Locking Knife of the Week is an Opinel No.6 that doesn't look like it did when it arrived at my house.

International Knife of the Week is a big Joker I bought in Valencia, Spain.

I've heard of a Hotdog Shield before...

Congrats GT! Our 41st is coming up in August. We both have forgotten the date more than once in the last several years 🤷
Thanks, Dan, and congrats on your and your bride's upcoming 41st! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I think it's still there for the time being. I don't know.
Thanks for the reply, even if you're not sure. :thumbsup::)
I get the impression that not all of us welcome "huddled masses" any more.

I too have a hard time committing to a single pattern, but judging by my pile of knives I'm pretty partial to trappers and stockmen. I agree with you that this one of hers is an exceptional example. It started out with some rough edges that I wasn't a fan of, but those have worn smooth with some pocket time.

I had a long (10 1/2 hours) day at church today, and had this S&M mini trapper in my pocket:

I happened by this picture of it from when it was still a newborn. Picked it up from the Queen open house that they used to run at the same time as the GEC rendezvous. She is showing some signs of use, as there have been years where this knife was in my pocket every day. I'm more fond of her today than I was in 2016.

Sweet S&M mini trapper! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'm don't really like carrying a full-sized 2-blade trapper, but a mini trapper or a slimline 1-blade trapper are both desirable carries for me.

That's a winner! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Congrats Gary, a milestone worth celebrating, if one can remember.🤣
Yeah, hard to believe a "numbers guy" like me would forget a benchmark anniversary like that! o_O;)

Admirable 150th Anniversary knife, José! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. I was hoping for a mental change, as well. Looking forward to a slower pace of life.
The buck is minor deterent, but I have more persuasive items close by.
Actually, many are retired military, and seem very friendly.
I hope your new place feels like home ASAP, Bob! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Do you like Southern Rock?

I thought I would grow it out a bit,its been military grade short all my life. 😁
If you get tired of those braids, you can use them as fobs/lanyards! 😁:thumbsup:

Dreary & dark for the time of year, remember it's 20 hours of light here now so it's doubly disappointing, perpetual North wind. Need something bright & beautiful to cheer things up. The @Cosimo De Benedetto Cosimo Chopper works wonders :cool:

Sensational, Will! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

I used to go through watchbands too often until I sprung for a real nice one. The brand is Threaded. Super well made and comfortable leather.

Happy Anniversary!
I suppose the Best Half had adjusted expectations knowing that she was marrying The Absent Minded Professor! 😀
Many wives would make a guy pay for forgetting an anniversary.
Mines more like yours, luckily. We're pretty casual about "Hallmark Holidays".
"Go out for dinner for my birthday? I'm kinda tired. Let's just stay home".🤪
...
Thanks for the watchband recommendation and the anniversary wishes, Jeff! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
If my wife hadn't also forgotten the "big day", I think I'd have been in big trouble! :eek:

No fog today here in the City by the Bay! Well at least not yet 🤞. Going to see my surgeon for my post-op meeting in a couple of hours. She saved my life and then changed my life and for that I will always be in her debt. Tote’n these smooth white bone beauties with me. Have a great week folks! 😀

I was glad to later read that the post-op consultation went well, Dan; quite a testimonial you gave your surgeon! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Your white tooth bone pair are definitely beauties!

As I recall, that's got everything you like in a Stockman.
I carry a Wenger Esquire when I have pants on.

Now let's see.
70 take away 2025 is minus 1955. Plus it by 2021 makes 66. Bout right?🤪
Yeah, that Case 6347 is VERY nice, IMHO. :) The only thing I'd wish for is carbon steel blades instead of stainless.
I have a Victorinox Minichamp that plays the same role for me as your Wenger Esquire does for you. :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Creative number crunching you're doing there! ;) If you were trying to calculate my current age from the data I provided, you're not far off - within 10 years, so that's close enough, at my age (and I'll give you bonus points for making me younger than I used to be 🤓).
If NOW represents my current age, I'd have set up an equation stating that the difference between my current age (NOW) and my age when I bought the knife (70) should equal the difference between the current calendar year (2025) and the year when I bought the knife (2021):
NOW - 70 = 2025 - 2021, or adding 70 to each side of the equation
NOW = 70 + 2025 - 2021, so you just have a couple of signs switched. :oops:

... a couple of years ago the wife and I took a trip out east for our anniversary and happened by Titusville. They had just finished the run of 87s, and we liked that this one was very orange looking. This is another one that spent over a year being in my pocket every day, and is still one of my favorites because it reminds me of our trip.

I really like the idea of getting knives as souvenirs when I travel! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Heckuva stockman, GT!!! 👏
Thanks, Chris; the same can be said of that chestnut jigged jewel you posted! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Pair of Queens wins the pot! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Notable pair, Mitch! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Rough Rider canoe, carbon steel. Been carrying this one for a while now.
With synthetic yellow covers? That's one of my favorites among the dozens of canoes I have! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Happy Anniversary, Gary. Glad you ultimately remembered.
Thanks, Bart. :)

I've heard of a Hotdog Shield before...
I was going for a "cigar" pattern, or "hot dog" pattern, and I'm impressed you could recognize it! :thumbsup:🤓:thumbsup:

I'm glad these are finding good homes in the upside down part of the world! On reprofiling that, it was just too big a chip to sharpen out, I couldn't accept losing that much steel, so I had to round it off a wee bit. Eventually, if you use it enough, you'll sharpen it back into a proper sheepsfoot.
