What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Some nice weather here. I took out this interesting Bobby Toole. He calls it a Congress Jack. Is there a Quarter Congress?…I don’t know. The top bolster is pinched and the bottom has like half a pinch. Both have a slant. You can’t stand it up from the bottom like a Doctors. Instead of the handle narrowing at that end it’s a bit larger. Sheepsfoot of course. The jigging appeals to me. The bone is almost black…in the light you can see some green. I have a few Bobby Toole knives now and they’re all great.

Funny thing with this because steel on the blades (all three) is Tru-Sharp not carbon steel as it should be.
I wrote to Case about it and they told me that it was Case factory mistake (by some strange reason) and they can replace them if I want.
But for me it makes this knife more unique - especially in my eyes.
The knife itself is very good (as I don't like the narrow profile of the clip point blade I have to admit that it is good), sturdy, comfortable and functional. The sheepsfoot blade is more often used then any other because it sticks out and all the time I find it easier (faster) to open and use. Good sized knife, very handy. Can be done with gloves but it will be hard.
I highly recommend it.
The 18 is one of my favorite Case patterns. I also like a wider blade but have come to appreciate the slicyness* of the skinnier blade. I think that its kind of cool that you got a factory mistake. I'd keep it too, however, if I may...the obvious thing to do is buy another one with CS blades so you have a complete set.
You're welcome :D

*It really messes with spellcheck when you use made up words ;)

I appreciated this blade style now. I wasn't before I bought this Zippo Trapper 🤔 I thought it will replace stockman in my pocket but...
I would probably buy another one as You say but in Poland it's hard to get them and if they are the price is way too high.

Oh, I didn't look to see where you were located 😬
Glad to have you! Enjoy the knife 👍

These two today : Case Trapper 4 & 1/8 long and Kissing Cranes Gunboat , or LARGE Canoe with 3 blades , 4 & 1/4 long and carried in a slip . Really like the Trapper . The Canoe was made in 1977 and is way heavier than the Trapper .

I have no idea why the shield is not straight . But it is tight .

All in all it is a very made well knife which has no visible Blade Rub . Got it this year at the Badger Blade show for a price cheaper than the I just paid for the Case Trapper. I probably will never use it , but I will carry it .
The Trapper has been and will be a pretty regular carry for me .

Cool looking SAK. More details, please. Thanks !
Thanks! It is a Wenger made model Evo 17. It has a locking blade that has a half stop after the lock is disengaged interestingly enough. The locking blade is neat, but makes it a bit harder to open the scissors, but over all it is a very well made SAK. Victorinox still makes a version of the Evo 17 I believe since they bought out Wenger

The term "Congress Jack" is correct for that knife.
A Jack can have one or two blades. (If two-bladed, they are normally at the same end of the knife.)
The post below contains a quote from BRL
In Levine's Guide to Knives and their Values, 4th Edition, Bernard Levine offers this definition:
"JACK KNIFE" is a general term for the simplest form of folding knife. The standard jack knife is single-ended. Its blade or blades are hinged at one end of the handle. There are also a few large heavy-duty double-end jack knife patterns. Double-end jack knives have a large blade in each end.

Small knives with blades pivoted at both ends are called "pen knives." Tiny single-ended knives with just a short pen blade are called "quill knives." Although they are constructed like jack knives, quill knives were the original pen-sharpening knives, so they too are classed as pen knives.

For reference:
Here's a two-bladed Congress Jack.
