"Hey, Boss! We're off on Labor Day, correct?"
Before I retired, I felt guilty for taking a day off.

I didn't have anyone waiting at home for me, there was nothing worth watching on TV, and my Internet access was at work.
(at the T.V. station when I wasn't doing the groundskeeping, or building satellite dishes (or running the cables to and aiming the dish to the correct space bird), electrifying equipment racks, or other Assistant Engineer work, I was the "receptionist" and Executive Secretary for the LLC President and the V.P. (they were usually in another state, and called in research assignments and other tasks.)
At the Florida Keys vacation rental property I managed, after completing my daily tasks (service the swimming pool, rake the beach, return the seaweed to the ocean, and trim the 97 coconut trees on the property, and chop the fronds to size so the trash hauler would take them away ... I started at a front corner of the property and worked around the property to where I started. By the time I made it back to the starting point, (usually a couple weeks) it was time to start trimming and dropping the coconuts again. Coconut trees and the beach weee "job security" ...
never ending tasks.
I also handled the reservation inquiries, managed the website, helped guests as needed, cleaned the place (and repaired damage as needed) between guests. During my off time in the evening I could play on the Internet, in my room.
