What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Radio says the normal high for this time of year is 80. My phone's weather app said it was 42 at 5:30, now my Scubaroo dashboard says it's 55, and the radio says it's heading for 70. Love this weather.

Working hard with the ironwood Barlow this morning. Lots of vegetables to be harvested from the garden, pruning to be done, and packages (with knives!!!) to be opened later this afternoon.

This knife haunts me like no other. I’m not normally a wood covers kind of guy, but every once in a while a knife comes my way with wood covers that feel just right. From an aesthetic perspective, these scales aren’t particularly amazing; not a ton of contrast, no amazing figuring either. Most of the interesting grain has been long covered up by the oils of my fingers. But holding the Barlow in my hands, it feels so right, like it has a living warmth all its own, as though the soil grew this wood with me in mind, a bond formed long ago as we both touched the earth.

That sweet barlow is meant to be carried and used. It takes on so much character that way.

Buzz, your waxing poetic about the wood covers on your knife reminded me of this quote from Captain Ahab in Moby Dick:

"This whole act's immutably decreed. 'Twas rehearsed by thee and me a billion years before this ocean rolled."

My sucker rod 86 performed admirably at work today, but I've lightened the load and am carrying my carbon fiber MBK Valar this evening.
