What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Alox Solo and Ash lamb today.

Prestigious pair, Tyson; that ash handle is especially nice! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

A late entry. Sitting on the porch waiting for my wife and son to return. I am very impressed with this Opinel (my first)! Thin blade stock makes for a great carver!

Congrats on your first Opinel! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I have several, and almost every time I use one of them, I wonder why I mess around with any other knives, from a purely cutting perspective. :rolleyes:

Frank, your wharncliffe copperhead is a gem! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Out on the moors yesterday (Dartmoor that is) hunting for the Hound of the Baskerville.

It’s absolutely stunning in the sun but will be bleak and stunning on a cold winters day as well and be very foreboding.

77 for the win. ❤️

Fantastic fotos (and food), John! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I really admire that yellow sowbelly stockman you've been frequently posting recently! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

A damp and dreary day here in the City by the Bay🌧️. Staying warm and dry again at home with nothing on my agenda. Keeping me company with a nod to Wooden Wednesday these two from across the Pond. Have a great day folks! 😀

Yearn-worthy Euro-wood, Dan! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

This in my pocket for today .

Harry, that bonestag wharncliffe trapper is outstanding (and the set of walnut Rogers bone behind it is nothing to sneeze at)!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I’m mostly through my first of three weeks of an Adirondack Mountain vacation. Just got back to my cabin after a few days in the wilderness. My sole carry was my custom made alox SAK.
Cool custom, Buzz! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wondrous Wednesday wood, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Case pen knife I hadn't seen in a while. It had been sucked into the deep, dark, farthest reaches of the sock drawer where few dare to tread ☠️ 🫣

Liberated and in the sun :)
Glad you found that one, Mike. I have a Case yellow pen just like yours that I think is a really fine pattern. :cool::cool::thumbsup:
(I know that Peanuts have attained cultic status among some on The Porch, but I'd take the pen over the peanut every time.)

Thought I'd share a pic of my good buddy, Oliver. He's a lot like Ed's "Abby the hoarder", except he brings those items he steals to me in exchange for beggin' strips to get him to release them. 🤣🤣

Couple of classy Eurekas, Jimmy and Pat! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Pat, Oliver looks quite relaxed; I hope he has no interest in chewing white bone! 🤓

Old ebony EO jacks today

Do my i's deceive, or is that a beautiful bright red 2 door 1963 Corvair?
2 carb, 4 carb, or single carb turbo engine?
4 speed or power glide automatic?

I had a '"champaign" color '63 4 door sedan, with 2 carb engine and power slide automatic. (dash mounted shifter)
Great cars. Ever so much better than what replaced them ... the Vega ... the car that rusted out sitting on the dealer's air conditioned floor, and needed the engine rebuilt/replaced after 25,000 to 30,000 miles. 🙄
Was yours unsafe at any speed, Steve? o_O
When I was shopping for my very first car in the summer of 1969, I test drove a Corvair, but decided I didn't want to get something weird (rear engine) for my first car.

Sweet clip/lamb sowbelly, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Big day for us. We've reserved a puppy out of a litter that was whelped seven weeks ago today. We have the third pick out of five boys. Although take home day is not til eight weeks old ~ next Thursday, all prospective owners will be meeting at the breeder's this morning to observe the temperament testing, after which we will make our choices in turn.
After spending time with the sire and dam of this litter, and looking at generations of their ancestry, I really think any of them will make a fine family member.
Except for this one little guy. He growled at my wife when she rolled him onto his back.😗

We have been visiting the litter every week.
Here are the five boys last week at six weeks old ~

One of these guys is coming home with us next Thursday.
Pretty exciting, Jeff! 🤓:thumbsup::thumbsup:
(Based on one photo, I'd be leaning toward the laid-back guy in the back who doesn't just follow the pack.)

Bone and blade bonanza, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

That's a handsome pair, David; I especially like the stag on the lamb! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

This 303 should qualify for Thrifty Thursday as it was a $15 gun show buy.

Sounds like a bargain, Mike! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I think I've paid that much for the Chinese-made Buck 373.

Seductive swayback, Dave! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Double dynamite, Barrett! :thumbsup::thumbsup:😲
That coffin shield really caught my eye; how do you think that would look on a coffin pattern knife?

My 50th is next month, but I've decided not to go. Our daughter would not enjoy it, we'll have a three month old GSD puppy at home, and I don't feel like spending 2 or 3 hundred$ to have to listen to the same group of drunks over by the bar. And two of my buds are no longer with us.
But sure hope your smarter half has a fine time!
...
The owner/breeder had watched during our visits, and pointed out the one she thought would be the calmest and maybe the best choice considering our daughter. In the end, we thought hard over our two favorites, and ended up choosing the one she'd suggested. This is the guy who'd climbed into Andie's lap and fallen asleep.

Mr. Watson, hand me your revolver.
Congrats on your new puppy! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Is Manny still around, and if so, did he have any input on the choice?

I went to my 50th high school reunion back in 2019, but I doubt if I'd have gone if I'd had to travel far. I only had to drive 60 miles to get there, and left the festivities semi-early because I'd recently had cataract surgery and didn't want to drive in the dark. It was kind of weirdly wonderful to see some people I'd hung out with every day at school and then not seen for 50 years. Also weird that 4 or 5 people came up to me and said something along the lines of "You're a lot taller than I remember!" I think that's probably a first impression thing - I was less than 5 feet tall when I started 9th grade, but I grew 12 inches by the middle of junior year IIRC.

Same as yesterday. Different pictures. Case Barlow and Dad's Schrade 8OT.

Special pair of knives! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

After seeing your post I was inspired to get out my similar Imperial and carry it today. As you mentioned, takes on a scary sharp edge.
