What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I got one of the great #48s in the mail today after a week away from home but I also got this one that I snagged on the exchange. One could fairly say that GEC went with ungainly and bulky patterns in their infancy (this one is from 2008), but I have always wanted one and it just puts a smile on my face. Plus I don't have to be shy about using it because it's got about the blackest patina I have ever seen.

You are obviously a man of impeccable taste! ;)

Today Im trying a pocket fixed blade along with my #48 Wharncliffe. Not sure if the Activator qualified as traditional...oppinions?

Well, Dave... That's a tough one. If it were handled in anything other than silver twill and carbon fiber, it would appear much more traditional. I carry a very similar small sheath knife, a BRKT Imp, which I feel is traditional, even though it's covered in black linen micarta. So, even judging based on synthetic vs. natural handle materials is an unreliable yardstick.
I think it goes back to the "hard to define, but I know it when I see it" mantra.
...in which case, that Benchmade doesn't "feel" traditional to me.
But, of course, that's just my opinion.

Certainly looks like a handy little guy, though!

Yeah...its a little tacti-cool to be traditional. They didnt have the wood handled one with the leather sheath when I got this to try Fixed Blade EDC. I have been looking at the BRKT choices and I think anything over 5.7 inch would be too much knife in my pocket...good thing they make several models that size and smaller. I was looking at the Pro Scalpel but cant decide on that or the Mini Carver....
