What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I hope you do not have to shovel the roof.
Are you in the "Lake Effect" area of MI? If you are, I prey you never get hit like Flushing, and other areas of upstate NY.
I remember about 10 years ago they got hit "bad"; 9.5 foot in one or two days. Then to add insult to injury (or was it "injury to insult"?🤔) after the storm passed, it stopped, reversed, and dropped another 5 to 6 foot before leaving again a day later.
Fortunitally, I was not one of the truckers that got stuck in that storm. (I think I was in Texas at the time) I know Panther (who we were contracted with at that time) had seven or 8 trucks buried in the snow for a few days.
(yes. the NY state snow plow/salt trucks were also among the cars and commercial trucks stuck and buried in the snow on the Interstate.)
Sorry for the late reply, Steve. I saw your post before I went out to shovel the driveway Sunday and then forgot about it by the time I came back in.
The weather forecasters here always talk about lake effect snow coming off Lake Michigan, but I live 30 miles east of the lake, so the "lake effect" we get this far inland isn't nearly as substantial as what happens closer to the lake; I can recall getting over 2 feet in the same snowstorm several times at the house I've lived in the past 41 years, but I don't ever remember getting 3 feet in one storm. Our house has a very steep roof so I don't worry about shoveling that, although there's essentially a brick box with almost flat roof attached to the back of the house (we call it the back porch) that I'll push the snow off if we get more than 16" up there.

I just checked data from the Grand Rapids National Weather Service station near the airport, and over the years of my life so far (1951-2025) the average seasonal snowfall here is 75.3" (although we're already at 66" so far this winter, with the average for Feb/Mar/Apr at 26"+). The record high annual snowfall in the years I checked was 132" (during the winter I was born) and the 2nd LOWEST was 39.7" the very next winter.

Here's the snow I've shoveled off the driveway since January 13:

Here's a Rough Ryder Arctic Fox Hawkbill I don't want to drop in the backyard (thanks, ED).

Our friend Jolipapa Jolipapa surprised me yesterday by sending me a very kind package in the true spirit of the Forum

Clearly, he's heard my musings about trying out a Florinox Kiana ;) Not only does he very generously send me this Orange one but a beautiful commemorative 2€ coin celebrating the restoration of Notre Dame cathedral after the disastrous fire of 2019. The Kiana is an EXCELLENTLY made contemporary work knife. About 10cm closed, 52g only and a lockback with stainless blade, many different colours and if you hear that dirge about lockbacks always have play, forget it, this has none! Very good and safe in the hand, I see it as a kind of latter day Douk-Douk in its simplicity yet very robust effectiveness.

No, it has no thumb stud, nor any pocket clip...just a properly functioning lock-bar ;)

Many thanks Alain, you are most thoughtful 😻
