What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Heartbreaking night yesterday when just after dark our neighbors house behind ours was destroyed by fire. Smoke and flames billowed from the 2nd floor, the attic and the roof. Many fireman risked their safety to control it as we watched in horror from our kitchen window, took a couple hours to extinguish the fire. A nice elderly couple live there. As far as I know they are okay but I imagine they are devastated from the loss. Likely won't be any of their belongings to salvage.
As for the house, a historic brick four square that was well cared for and maintained, it might be able to be salvaged with a ton of work. Very sad and to be honest it brought tears to the eyes of my wife and I.

Pocketing my only Blade Forums knife that came to me most thoughtfully as a gift from Harry. Thanks again my friend, this is a great knife.

Recycled blade from old shears, I've got a few of these. Simple carbon steel, not pretty but handy as a beater.

Three blade Gunboat Stag Canoe in my pocket today. Overcast but suppose to clear up this afternoon. Staying home today to recuperate from our late trip to town yesterday for gas at the Indian Reservation - a $1.71 cheaper a gallon than Chevron and Velero in town.. We took Abby with us - need I say more. Corned Beef Hash and eggs for breakfast.

Some lingering fog today here in the City by the Bay 🌁. Finally found out why I’ve been feeling lousy for the last couple of weeks turns out all the time I spent in and out of the hospital and rehab caught up with me. Started taking medication for c diff which is an infection of my gut. It pisses me off that my primary care doctor wouldn’t listen to my doctor brother who knows my medical history and which he’s supposed to know too. I could have been back to normal earlier. Anyway I’m just glad that I’ll be able to get my life and not be chained to a bathroom. Keeping me company with a nod to Stag Saturday a lone viper. Have a great weekend folks! 😀

Glad someone was awake in Med school Dan. I often consult with my niece on important issues. Between her and her husband they can come up with a treatment. Doctors are getting like lawyers...billable hours.🤨
Hope your health improves quickly.

Mrs. Crappie and I caught these rainbow trout over in WV this morning. We fished until the wind drove us off the lake; she caught five, and I caught four. She might have out fished me😢,but as I type this, she is sitting in the chair pulling out a catastrophic backlash🤪. Of course I had the Vic PioneerX with me also.

I have always wondered if those Old Hickory are worth the money. What’s your take on them?
Speaking of Old Hickory knives in general, I've been a fan. Great value. Good knives. Speaking of this one in particular, which is called the "Outdoor", it depends. I'm glad I have it for historical purposes if nothing else, since Ontario is no more. The new owners seem to be continuing the RAT line up, but as far as I can tell, the Old Hickory knives being sold today are new old stock.
The outdoor is "rustic". Its a solid chunk of knife. Blade is 1075. I haven't used it enough to speak to the steel's durability. It came with a decent edge and is suitably pointy. Pull is a solid 7 or so. Pinches open with the scagel type hole. Mushy half stop, but seems secure. It snaps open hard. Zero play, no slop. No gaps. Spring flush in the closed position, very slightly proud in the half and open positions. If its anything like the FB OH's I've owned it'll be tough and durable. Action is a little rough. "Silky" won't be in the description. Basically it seems like a solid, well made work knife. For the less than $30 I paid for it, its well worth it. I don't know what they're going for now, or if they're even still available. Ontario released these not long before the factory was shuttered.
