What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today was my daughter Scout’s 6th birthday, and if you know me, you know that means I had her Nifebrite #15 “Scout” in my pocket today. I had this knife with me the day she was born, and I carry it every year on her birthday (and other special occasions). This year the Winterbottom #81 came along for the ride.

No huge birthday events today. Scout opened her presents in the morning, I made us all breakfast, then she had school (we offered to let her skip school, but she didn’t want to miss out on celebrating with her class). After school we went to a local toy store the girls love (they get to pick out one gift there every year) and then took them to play at a park for a while. It was a sunny day but we found a shady spot to take Scout’s annual birthday knife pic. Of course, if you’re familiar with this particular tradition, you’ll know that I’m going to subject you to all the previous years’ pics first. 😁

Here’s Scout with her knife on the day she was born.

And finally, her sixth birthday today.

As you can see, we finally ditched the Bluey ears that made the last two years’ pictures, but still had a Bluey birthday shirt. 😁

Scout got to choose where we ate for dinner, and when Scout chooses, it’s pretty much always Chipotle.

Cool tradition that you've kept going on each and every birthday, Barrett! Love the pics. Looks like Mom & Dad are making each of Scout's birthday's special for her. Happy birthday, Scout! :)

Agreed. Nice pics btb01 btb01 . We always enjoy seeing them.

We have a lot of pics of our kids stashed away in boxes & albums, but back then, we only carried cameras around for special events, vacations, etc. Now, I can just get the phone out of my pocket & get a good pic anytime, anywhere.

And a little unsolicited advice. Take it from an old guy. You're never going to wake up one day, and think, "Boy! I wish I wouldn't have spent so much time with my kids."

It’s going to be another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Unfortunately I’m stuck in quarantine for another day until I’ve had 48 hours of antibiotics. Apparently c-diff is contagious. I bummed out that I won’t be at Wavy Gravy’s 90th birthday celebration 😕. For those youngsters out there he was the unofficial emcee at Woodstock and if you don’t know what that was you’ll have to Google it! In the meantime keeping me company my newest lamb which is imho a beauty. Have a great weekend folks! 😀

Dan, a nice horn barlow. A classic in the making.

Happy birthday to Scout from Dallas! What a fun tradition, Barrett. I can barely process the fact that my daughters are 29 and 27. Since I’ve been going down memory lane lately, here they are with me on our summer holiday, hiking to summit Mt. Snowden (Yr Wyddfa) in Wales when they were 10 and 8…IMG_0577.jpegIMG_0574.jpeg
And here’s some traditional stag canoe content from my creek walk in Dallas today:IMG_5921.jpeg
