What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Frontier might be by sometime today to install a new modem. The internet is working fine just now but we'll see. Since I've got another tech coming, I'll have to be up to snuff and what better way than to carry this 389 Jigged Bone Buck Canoe. I really like the (sabre?) hollow ground blades on these Buck canoes. ???? for breakfast. Gonna be a hot one today - might just have to turn the AC on. Last night it was reported that the temps hit the eighties in San Francisco. Can that be true Dan sf fanatic ?

Ed we’ve lived here for over forty years and it has never gotten above eighty degrees here at the homestead. We’re too close to the ocean which acts as nature’s AC even when we have an off shore wind. Forecast is for the low to mid seventies. But you never know .

(But we have to be careful with foreign languages. If I remember correctly from my very first "conversation" in the German 101 textbook my first semester in college in 1969, "Giftmeister" is German for Poison Master. )

Time to replace our sewage ejector pump. Easy job, but not one I enjoy.

I will probably not use these two knives.

Interesting prescription in the background of your photo!
I recently was looking at the "history" section of the webpage for a church I can see out my back door, and it mentioned when the church was founded in the 1920s, they had to keep careful attendance records for the government to approve their requests for sacramental wine during Prohibition.

Finally got our new air conditioner install finished. Woudn't you know the temps have been mild but the hot hot days are just down the road. Carrying this Canoe today. Sausage and eggs up for breakfast.

At the ex-wife’s house. I came to see my daughter off to her senior prom. Man, I just gave her that first bath as a new born yesterday, it seems. She is a good kid with the heart of a lioness. Fiercely loyal along with being a very gifted artist, she is doing her part this fall at a highly regarded university with a pretty damn good scholarship. She’s the reason for late nights and early mornings at something that is more than just a 9-5. There isn’t a better reason, right? She may be one of the only things I’ve ever done right, but I can live with that. To say I’m a proud dad is an understatement. I digress. The 34 today. The carpenter jeans I am wearing has a deep enough leg tool pocket to swallow it whole.
5CR5CR15MoV blade on my last two (including this one). My first (and both my ELANDS) were equipped with 1.1446 KRUPP blades.

Of the three KUDO and two ELAND I have had, this is the first to need the spring adjusted so it closes with only a pound ... pound point five ... or so pull on the ring.

I "think" I like the ratchet lock better than the slipjoint version that I also have.

How do you adjust the spring to get a lighter pull on the ring? My Kudu is a satisfying knife except it requires WAY too much pull on the ring to close it; I always think my fingers are at risk when I try to close it.

Thanks Bob but I’m going to have to see an oral surgeon to have the root removed and then they can replace it with a fake tooth. Doesn’t help that I’m on blood thinners which increases the healing process significantly. But I don’t want to look like a hillbilly for the foreseeable future

I had my very back lower right molar break off a few years ago, and it couldn't be fixed. I was glad to see it go actually, because it had had several crowns and 2 root canals, and nobody can see that it's gone. But about a year later, my lower left canine/eyetooth had to be removed due to "resorption" (which I had never heard of before). Still haven't replaced that one, and I'm learning to live with the "hillbilly look". (Can't find an appropriate missing-tooth emoji.)

Likewise. That's why I omitted any attribution. The most i can say is, "Somebody said it."

And "Later, somebody said that Mark Twain said it."

Do you usually lace them up all the way to the top? I got some new work boots last October, with 2 pairs of those "speed hooks" or whatever they're called at the top of each boot. The right boot was "beating up" my inside right ankle bone, and I found out I could fix that by just using the top pair of hooks. So now I do that on both boots, just for a symmetric look.

Thanks for the compliment! I do typically lace those boots all the way to the top. After they’ve been worn for a while, and conditioned a time or two, they don’t bother me at all. I’ve been wearing boots all of my life, and very rarely wear anything else. Maybe that has something to do with it too. It sounds like you may have figured out what works for you, but if you do want the extra bit of stability from lacing them all the way up, sometimes there’s a bit of a price to pay up front. I’ve owned PNW loggers in the past, and always tell people that you’re going to hate them before you love them. Lately I’ve been leaning more into slip on boots. As I age, and become less flexible and less active, they seem to be a good choice. Again, I grew up and grew old wearing every type of boots imaginable. Hopefully yours will soon become favorites!

Thanks, for the detailed boot info, Lance! I grew up wearing boots on a dairy farm (but not for school), and even after I left the farm, I usually had leather work boots for my winter footwear until about 15 years ago. But my current leather work boots are my first since then, and I think my feet are "out of practice".

The swamp cooler is history. However, if the air conditioner doesn't do it, we'll put in another swamp cooler. The swamp cooler we had displaced air at 5,000 CFM and could blow all the hot air out of the house in minutes.

I opened the blade half way, then used a screwdriver to slowly and slightly bend the spring from tang to anchor pin on each side.
I did not have a thin enough screwdriver to get under the spring behind the spring.

I worked slow, and checked often.

I got it from what felt like 10 pounds to where I can put index/pointed finger through the ring, thumb against the spine, moddle and ring against the spring, and pull the ring with about 1 to 1.5 pounds, thumb automatically applying pressure to the spine, to unlock and move to the ratchet mext to the lock tab.
(Per the instructions that came with the Kudu and Eland back in the 20-teens, on how to close them, when I bought my first Kudo and Eland, and they cost around $5.00 each (Eland might have been a dollar more) with free seller shipping on the big south american jungle site.)
