What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Case chestnut CV Muskrat today.

Wow. Very nice. What is it and where can I get one?
What steel?

Thank you. It's a Schatt & Morgan Harness Jack with goldenroot bone handles and 1095 blades. That knife was part of a limited run, so you'll have to look to the secondary market to score one.

Had to help the wife wrap the Christmas presents today, so I used my Kerry Hampton desk knife. The wharncliffe point is just the thing to cut the wrapping paper.

Got the main blade sharp. Working on the sheepsfoot. I'm off work for two weeks so this one is going to get a LOT of pocket time.
(Queen 4" stockman)

My grandfather passed away a few weeks ago, and being the knife guy in the family, a few (so far, they're still cleaning out the house) came my way.

One is this Schrade 8OT. I love the Stockman pattern, and this one is beautiful. It won't be an EDC, but more like an every now and then carry.

Pardon the poor picture (I just got home after being stranded at work for two days). Here it is with my EDC Spyderco Paramilitary. Sorry it's not completely traditional... but at heart I'm a slipjoint guy. I carry the Paramilitary for heavy duty cutting, but in a perfect world, I'd have a stockman in my pocket and nothing else.

Knarfeng, that Queen is beautiful.

Thats a great lookin early 8OT Psycho... Gotta love the early ones with the match strike pulls

Thats a sweet lookin Queen too Knarf... I had read before that Queen was doing a better job of putting an edge on their D2. Is that not true?

I don't know much about them. I'm more of a Buck and Boker kind of guy, but I really like this one. It looks about a hundred times better than the picture would lead you to believe.

One day last week I gave it some time on the stones and got the various angles where I wanted them. I didn't touch the main blade much though, my grandfather had it shaving sharp, so I just ran it on some ultrafines to polish it up a bit.

Any idea how old it would be? Again, I don't know much about Schrade knives at all. Pardon the attempted hijacking, I'm just curious.

I really can't give you an estimate on the age. There are some on here that could though.
The older Schrade 1095 carbon steel blades are great. It is very easy to get them scary sharp

It's a great little knife. It took some work to get it opening smoothly, but now that it's cleaned out, the walk and talk are great and snappy.

I know it's not as nice as some of the stockman collections I've seen around here, but when I want to carry traditional, I grab one of these (I'm not entirely sure what caused that blue effect on the Camillus on the left... stupid digital cameras and my inability to make them work).

So I guess these are my traditional Every Now and Then Carry knives.

I believe they are. But still not what I want in an EDC. (I pretty much re-bevel every knife I buy, and fuss with the edge till it's the way I like it. It's just more work with the Queens because they bevel their edges to a more oblique angle than Spyderco, Benchmade, or Buck; and D2 is fairly resistant to metal removal.)

I've got the Sheepsfoot almost done.

It's chromatic aberration, but odd even at that. Not much you can do except to try playing with your flash settings or finding something to use as a diffuser over the flash.

And so as not to make this an entirely off topic post, I was carrying the Sowbelly up top here today. Not that I did much of anything at all. :o
