How does the sharpener work?

Is it good? :)

It's an 80's Schrade Old Timer Honesteel...you sharpen a blade with the flat sides and touch up (realign edge) on the edge of the steel. Works great with 1095 blades. I have Gerber Sportsman steels that work the opposite..(sharpen on the edge and touch up on the flats)

You're meant to hold it like this.....

.....but I generally just use it like a stone or hold one end and support the opposite end on a table or something. Works like a chisel too....on processing game (pelvis etc).

Getting your teeth pulled today?

Fish on a Friday....

I pull them out myself these days! :D I was only in the chair 2 minutes to get an X-ray taken. My next appointment is Valentine's Day, previously it was Friday the 13th, I think I get all the slots nobody else wants! :D

That's a great pic  Get it in the workout thread! ;)

A while back I finally got to try mushy peas, had 'em on water crackers with malt vinegar and thought they were quite tasty! The wife wouldn't even venture a try though, she thought they were "unnatural!"

Your wife is right Duane! :D My dad thought that the same of fresh peas!

Black ALOX Pioneer, Green Canvas Bull Nose in Rayban pocket sheath and the Clip Barlow in Chest pocket of my Carhartt

Today this tribute to the 1902 Marbles Ideal just completed by David Stifle is going to get it's baptism breasting a pair of fresh mallards.

Hey Jim,

It's a Schrade Walden no. 163 rope knife. Used to be a sharp-cornered sheepsfoot blade, but has been sharpened into a curve by previous owners. These are actually pretty common on the "big auction site," and usually not very expensive. Often, there is a company name or logo embossed on the handles, sometimes a bail or a lanyard hole, and usually the handles are more square and less polished (this one is kinda unique with its lack of a lanyard hole and its smooth finish on the wood... although there are holes in the brass scales to accomodate a hole drilled in the wood covers).
Thanks for your comments! :)

Alex
