What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Case XX USA, circa 1970, model 6308 red bone whittler. I really like the small frame of this whittler. Stephen posted a photo of his great old 6308 a few days ago and that inspired me to try and get a decent photo of one of mine. This is not meant to be a comparison to his fine old knife.:)

I had a concept in mind of an indoor photo with some antique bottles as the background. Most of my photos are taken outdoors. It was rainy here yesterday and not much to do, so I gave it try. I used a tripod, cable release, and natural light from a north side window. I was surprised at how hard it was to control that indoor glare. I guess it turned out decent, but, actually wasted a lot of time to get a result I was not expecting. Maybe a lesson in what not to try. :D I guess I will have to get it outdoors one day and try for another.:)

Primble, in my humble opinion they turned out quite well.

As usual I have a flavor of the SAK Cadet, luckily I have 8 flavors to choose from right now so it never gets old. ;)

I really like that flavor. Your photo of it makes me want one for myself.:D

P.S. - Your comment was appreciated.

Today is Ken Coats swayback in ATS 34 and Paua with a "Talisman II" fixed blade by Haley DesRosier in her own damascus with 416 SS bolster and pins with very nice ironwood burl, shark skin sheath with damascus "shark tooth" by Haley.

I have gone back to this little #09 Esquire while i wait, champing at the bit for the inbound sooper dooper stag version. I had almost forgotten what a great little knife the #09 is, comparing it against another favourite my chestnut bone peanut it wins in all aspects except cute and there Case have it. To paraphrase another member, if GEC made the #09 a Jack they could lengthen the main blade and then it would be very near perfect...

You know I love this one, and the pictures turned out terrific. Really captured the beauty of that old red bone!

Lost in the breathless beauty and placidity of a marvelous dream

Great looking knife! I'm a sucker for old ebony patterns and long pulls.

I'm carrying a blood wood 68 today.

Thanks Stephen, but, I think you do better with that indoor lighting. That red wood looks great!:)

Even better than yesterday, really liked the shield, swedge, and long pull on this beauty.:thumbup:

Thanks, Primble!! The photo yesterday just did not sing. This one is a little better. Still needs more trial and error to get the photo right. I love your idea of the old glass bottles as a backdrop. I thought your photo was great! Has a kind of bokeh quality to it:thumbup: You sure have some real beautiful knives...that whittler is smoldering hot!

Stephen, Thank you, Sir! The 68 is one fine knife!!

Well I got my Schrade 3OT in the mail today so I'll be carrying it for a while. I ordered it thinking it was one of the bigger models and didn't realize its size until a few hours later, but it was cheap so its not a huge deal. It feels pretty well built, all things considered. Its nice and sharp, and no bladeplay so there isn't much I can complain about. The seams are actually pretty precise but I can kind of see tiny spots where the paint or staining from the scales has kind of drifted over onto the brass liners a tiny bit.
