Great pic Andy!!
Put some new Bics in your BOB. I have a brass Zippo and use it now and then to light my cigar but if not used for a while, the lighter fluid will evaporate and it won't light when you need it. Mine won't. It's a better daily use thing IMO. Makes sure you pack a can of lighter fluid in your stuff if you go with the Zippo.
Yeah, I'll be buying a brass Zippo. Seems appropriate with a traditional knife. But I still want to learn how to use a fire steel well and efficiently. Though I haven't been able to convince my wife of the value, I've been looking at putting together a bug-out bag. I'm not the survivalist kind of guy, but of all the hobbies I could have, this one could actually be useful someday....
Meant to comment before SH, what a gorgeous knife!!!
You need to look up "Z-Plus Insert", it is a real nice upgrade, and the fluid does not evaporate.
And this came today, and was my my side most the day. Robeson Regular Jack

Thats a nice looking Lanny's Clip texbaz.
I used to feather sticks, which worked quite well. I use a lighter now, which also works rather successfully.![]()

Should try a driptorch-maybe not
I posted a recently about finding an old old whisky bottle up in the bush near my house. I cut my finger quite badly when pulling the bottle from the earth. It was very jagged and had been sitting there for I reckon 100 plus years. It was full of mud and had a plant growing in it. Had to use my trusty pmew giveaway Eureka jack to cut my tshirt for a bandage to stop the bleeding.
Heres the culprit cleaned up smoothed off and my saviour.

It has VR moulded in the base of the bottle. A piece of history.
