What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Both are great looking in their own way.

How old is that Camillus?

I am not certain xceptnl. I'm guessing late 40's early 50's? It had a broken pen blade and a chunk of bone missing on the handles. I tore it down, cleaned it and re-assembled it with new jigged bone. The bolsters are steel and I used a nickel silver pin that I had on hand. I put a forced patina on the blade.

I went through all of todays pictures and found that every knife and picture posted today deserves a nice comment - lots of fine knives and pictures today by everyone and I echo the echoed statements that others have said. Thank you for your comments and I wanted to add a few extra comments of my own :

Jennifer - thanks for showing us those bad pictures of a great knife and how to cut out the pattern for a knife slip!:D
bonzodog - that NW barehead jack is an exceptionally beautiful knife!
xceptnl - that is a great picture you posted of a really nice knife!
Jack - thank you for showing us your tiny railroad tracks + some nice pictures! ;):D
Markesharpe - fantastic knife and picture!
redbike - beautiful knife and picture!
Gevonovich - thanks for all the fantastic old knives you usually post and thanks for not teasing us knife addicts with half a picture today - which brings up the question - where is your tote today and where is the full picture of that fantastic ole Case??? ;):D

9blades - that half a picture I posted yesterday was a Keen Kutter - so I still owe you one - thanks for the comment on the old Schrade. ;):D

Wow! All the knives on this page are incredible....Primble's Schrade and Jack Black's #66 just resonate with me....Jennifer...as much as I would like to....I just can't bring myself to carving up the baseball glove (MacGregor) that I bought in 1970 and used throughout high school ...

I won't cut up my glove either! I got it for a gift and will never part with it so I completely understand. I find cheap ones at local stores or the great auction site in the sky to use for my tinkering.

Here is a new picture of the old Case.

Great pic. Great knife.

Primble - I'm an amateur compared to great things I've seen done here with leather, but I'll gladly share my patterns anytime.

Love the long pull distressed blade and the exceptional colors in the bone - slim and sleek - she's a beauty Gevo!:)

Case & Son I believe you said - so 1905-1914 era??

Yes 1905-1914. Found it in a box of old knives at a knife shop for $1.00. A mountain of knives pounding it, day after day as people looked through the box:eek: Only 2/3 of one scale left but snaps like a dream. No wobble and the grinds...

Jennifer

Thank you for your kind words. Looking forward to see the finished pouch.

I never find a $1.00 knife and I don't have any Case that old either. I think the right person found it - now it has a proper home! I get a kick out of many of the old knives that still have all that snap and such great character!:)

A rare occasion when I carried two today. For the little jobs a tiny toothpick

and for the heavy stuff this workhorse won in leghogs giveaway

It's nice to be back

Your gentle use of it makes it all the better.

Would you believe I bough that off the auction site for about $15. Some people just don't know what they have. I feel like those guys shuffling through some old box they found and finding an old traditional from the bygone eras. I have a few about her age, and one or two that are older. I get goose bumps when I hold her and think of the history and where she might have been.

Opened a few boxes today and shared her with a few people. What a great day. Back in the box and something new tomorrow. Rest easy old girl until the next time.

Been away on vacation without Internet access for a couple weeks, but I'm glad to be home and able peruse the board again. I'm happy to see that there's no shortage of beautiful knives being posted. :)

I usually rotate knives on a daily basis, but for the past two weeks while I was on vacation, I carried this slim ebony Calf Roper and it served me well.

Back home again today, and switched the Calf Roper out for this 3 1/2" Lanny's Clip by John Lloyd.

I hope all of you have been doing well.
