What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Paul - It takes some getting used to when the chicks leave the nest - I still miss mine in many ways, but, there are a few perks that go along with the sad, as you will find out over time. ;):)

I like the knife, by the way.:)

Primble, thank you about the knife and you are correct about the perks...my wife works at a furniture store and ordered a Queen size sofa sleeper a few weeks prior to his moving out and picked out paint about the same time, it arrived today and I'm in the process of painting---so now we have a den;)

When our son caught wind of it he was like "Wow, really, I haven't even moved out and you guys are turning my room into a den":grumpy: We both responded in unison---YEP!!!:D

Anyway, I cleaned up, ordered pizza and our son will be here in minutes...

Switched out to this for tonight's carry:thumbup:

Enjoy your Friday night everyone:thumbup:

i actually figure either of these would be all the knife i ever needed
but the wenger just gives me so many more options.

wonder which is tougher though, i honestly dont know

I would be perfectly happy with either although I don't own an SAK cadet yet or is that a Pioneer?

I see a trend, concerning sons moving out and being a bit jealous that the new/freed up space is turned into a really nice space for mom and pop.:thumbup::D

Nice switch you made too. ;):)

Gev, Primble and Jack, thanks for the nice words about the Frank Buster eureka jack, and yes, Prim, stamped blades.

Primble and Gevonovich, the fall photos are sublime!

I have the next 9 days off and decided to start the vacation off with the 73.
Ahh...to have one in my pocket all day. Feels good.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

What a picture and what a knife, Brett!! I hope the weather is perfection for you vacation!!

You're welcome. What is that knife, anyway? Will you please share some info about it? Thanks!

Thank you Gev:) the Muck and the Farmer almost go un noticed in the back pocket but I really really like the Muck...between atrophy in my left hand and Carpal Tunnel in my right the handle is so forgiving and very comfortable:thumbup:

And you my friend always provide stunning pictures...you, Primble, Duncan, Jack, Jeff and many more make the viewing here a pleasure:thumbup:

I am kinda missing the Cicadas though:o:D

I haven't given much thought to what I've carried this week, but did spend a couple minutes this morning looking through my collection before picking this William Rodgers ivory sleeveboard.

Choosing a knife to carry each day is usually one of my favorite activities and for the past year or so, since discovering the Traditionals Forum, visiting this thread and looking at what all of you are carrying has been an equally enjoyable part of my daily routine, and for that, I thank all of you. :)

I really appreciate your kind words, Paul! The cicadas are a little worse for wear but they still reside on the stump. I visualize it one day resembling the tribute piece sort of like that scene in Jeremiah Johnson.

That is one gorgeous knife!! Good choice:D

Thank you! I've just been catching up on things here and haven't been able to comment on all the great knives and photos, but do want to compliment you on your excellent Autumn Worm Groove photo. It was just a wonderful composition and a stunning knife too. :)

I have been missing your pictures, Stephen! It was a great morning for pictures and when I moved one of my stumps there it was and I thought it was just perfect for a photo op. Then back to the soil it went. Man I love this weather and hope your getting some of it as well:D:D

Nicely said Stephen, and a beautiful knife my friend, good to have you back

I've had to abandon my planned walk due to heavy rain here, but I'm also carrying old Sheffield ivory (Needham), along with this Smith Barlow in mammoth :)

Sorry for the late response guy's:o I actually had this message ready to respond---got sidetracked and am just getting back to it now:thumbup:

This is not a definite by any means but I'm understand the raised pin is for future peening if the blade develops play:confused:

In the case of the electrician I think it was mostly that STR liked the look of the proud pin. Similar to the Queen Workhorse series. The reason Queen had the proud pin is unknown to me and may well be for the reason you stated - which is as good a guess as any :)

When the micarta 71s appeared people were asking the same thing. The delrin versions had flush pins and the micarta did not. If I recall, It was either Barry or Mike who provided the answer from GEC. The micarta cannot be polished in the same fashion as other handle materials and so a portion of the pin has to remain proud.

If anyone has any more accurate info on this, please correct me.

Paul
