• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you Paul, and I very much hope you do the same! And I got the joke partner - I had a good laugh!

Honestly, I think you are one of the most kind and positive men on bladeforums. I mean that 100%.

Thank you my friend, I return the very same compliment to you:thumbup: You handled that dig thrown @ you in General with pure class;)

@Markesharp, Mark I extend the same compliment to you as well. It's truly a pleasure being in the Traditional forum among the class of people that reside here.

Umm yea my post was meant to be a joke. o well.

No problem at all pal, I got the joke! I just wanted to share what that carving really is. It really is beautiful in person. I have no idea what wood it is, but it's very nice. No offense meant, and none taken.

Thanks very much! I try, I really do. I devote a lot of time to this great place we have here, and although the barbs wear on me sometimes, I try my best to just take them with a grain of salt and move on.

I think it is Mahogony AntDog. It is a favorite of pattern makers, due to its inherent cross grain it carves well and finishes smooth. Nice piece.

Thanks! I have had it about 8 years and never knew what kind of wood it was. I had always wondered about it. All I knew was that it was a nice carving made of very handsome wood. Thank you for shedding some light on it!

The Coyote!
How do you like it - so far?

You are correct, snippy - it's a Coyote. Just got it today, so no experience yet beyond prepping some veggies for my dinner tonight. Good so far, but I'll be testing and using it this weekend on a fishing trip. I'll be sure to report back and get some better pix as well, but I think this is gonna be a winner...

That is very nice Todd.

I've been carrying an old pruning knife for a couple of months now. It's about 2-2.5 " in the blade, no makers marks anywhere that I can find. Presumably Sheffield in origin, since I picked it up here in the UK (I'm on contract here for a while) and it's stamped as such. But some stuff has been made elsewhere & stamped Sheffield. Anyway, it's a nice knife, I've come to really appreciate the hawk bill blade, and it fits nicely in the coin pocket of my jeans.

Yea... I love that blade shape. The Wharnie is great!!! Cool knife! Thanks.

Keep seeing that kind of knife... now I want one! Dang...

Call me fickle. This one called out to me this afternoon.
Case Sowbelly with CV blades.

Very cool. I almost picked one of these up in a tiny town in Texas that had a store/service station full of like 500 case knives. I resisted!

I know there's redundancy here blade shape wise but I just had to carry these two:o:)

Look what arrived just in time for the first game of the Champions Cup against Leicester Tigers tonight :)

C'MON ULSTERRRRRRR!!!

^^^^ Cool Ulster ^^^^

I'm taking this one out today for its maiden voyage

I will be off to the pre-wedding activities shortly. I decided to carry one of my ole red bones, a 1940-64 era half whittler for the occasion:

Lots of nice forum knives being posted - have my fingers crossed for mine being in my mail when I get home later today.

Paul - congratulations on the arrival of your grail Ulster knife.;):)

Everyone have a nice weekend. :)
