Carried a 1944 Richards-made British Army clasp knife today when I went to see ADEE and visit his local market.

Had these with me when I went.

Came back with these.

This Old And Trusty Fellow... at least until the end of the week... eventually longer

It´s hard having the BF knife 2014 at home and in reach not to carry it :grumpy:

Cool thing about an American history book published in 1904 is it ends with the election of Theodore Roosevelt. Pictured with my new white primitive bone hunter from GEC in 1095 carbon steel. I thought it'd make a great companion to my 3rd-cut-stag Charlow.

Happy Veterans Day to all those who have served for our country!

Shear beauty!! Love the pattern in the scales and the blades look in great shape.

I recognize a couple in your pictures;) The "Letter Opener" is just a dandy. And the hawk looks like a great knife. Also, that is a great looking military knife

I picked up the Tip Top for a pittance as it was rusted shut. A little oil, elbow grease and some 1500 wet/dry and its looking pretty nice. It was a surprise that the blades still have great snap ( the pen a little bear trap ) and no wobble. Both pretty full too:D I spent an hour on it late late last night for some relaxation. It still needs some more work but the old steel bolsters just swoon me and the bone is full and crack free.

I see you hanging in there with the bet!! Your Will is strong...Obi-Wan Kenobi:D

That Sowbelly is just magnificent....wow!!

Thanks Gev :) The long thermometer at the bottom of the pic was used for sliding into a bail of wool to take the temperature, something to do with the quality apparently.

Fantastic work my friend, how satisfying, Really a lovely knife

Somewhere in that second pic of mine there's a jack knife that's just one big piece of rust. It's a real poor man's knife really, but I'll be interested to see how it cleans up. After a bit of work this evening, I can now see that the tang stamp reads 'Forged Steel' above 'Made in Germany'.

I really enjoy the act of bringing back an old knife to life. I can't wait to see your work! Interesting on the thermometer...I would have never have thought about that. Another great aspect of this forum and you, my friend!

Me too Gev, I get a bit overloaded with restoration projects sometimes though, and I don't think this one is going to be too special :)

I wouldn't have had a clue what the thermometer was for, but Huddersfield, where I was, was once surrounded by mills, and an old gentleman told me about the thermometer. He said he had one hanging in his hallway, and I'll probably do the same with mine :)

I am glad to have you as a friend Mr G :)

Such wonderful pics!

Here is one of my new #73; I am considering it as my "go to" edc. I typically carry a #42 trapper, so this is a bit smaller and thinner that usual, but I have to say that I am liking it very much. The match strike long pull is very pleasing to the eye, and I hope that the cocobolo will dark the way it did on my #42.
