What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I am still on my TL-29 modding horse. I have a small pile of them at this point, and it is really teaching me a lot of knife building skills.

Here is my latest mod. I took out the screwdriver blade, and ground the blade tang so the liner lock would work with the spear blade. I got a hold of some snakewood and made some new scales for the knife. Once it was all together, I decided to partially serrate the blade. It has turned into a super nice knife. The snakewood polishes up like glass and is super hard, but cracks easily. There are some cracks at the pins, which I have hidden, but it taught me to be more careful with super hard woods.

Very nicely done!! You keep getting better and better! Careful now, you just might get addicted!

These two are accompanying me today. Man, do I love how bronze patinas.

I have to give you all the credit for getting me started. I saw one of your picture heavy posts on how to do this with hand tools, and just dove in. I found a great old drill press on Craigslist for $15 this week and picked that up, and just made some wooden jaws for my vise.

I still have not made any bolsters yet. It would be great if you gave a tutorial on how to make bolsters. Do you get the metal from Jantz? I bought some pin stock and the Snakewood from Jantz. Great resource.

I'm glad my tutorial helped!

Here is a thread where I use my shop tools to do a complete build from just a spring and liner:

As far as Jantz goes, I do use them as a source, but that is a discussion we should have outside of this forum. Email me for more details.
