Gary, that Primos looks to be a honey of a knife! Is the tang fully hidden? I love the blade shape

Carrying my Wife's knife today;) Mark, aka Markesharp fixed and old German made Barlow (to be posted in another forum) for me and when he mailed it back he included this BEAUTIFUL Ulster he re-worked for my wife Nanc:thumbup:

Now Nanc is NOT a knife person but she absolutely loves this Ulster and the first thing she said was "it's the color of my Birthstone" Ya done good Brother;) No play at all in this great old Barlow:cool:

Could use some info from the group on this one. Appears to be celluloid covers 3and 3/8 long.Main blade has tang stamps on both sides.shield side has a circular stamp, looks
like a birds wing and has zenith in script. Pile side says marshall-wells with mi Germany below.Seems well built and fairly hefty for a knife this size. Any info appreciated

That really is a BEAUTIFUL Ulster Paul. I am glad your wife loves it (who wouldn't) and great job from Mark.

How do you like that? Been thinking about the 3.5 myself. Just how thin is it?

I like it very much. Had it a little over 4 years now I think. Total thickness is about 5mm or 0.2". The scales are about the thickness of a penny.

The blade shape is generally quite useful with a fine point for picking splinters or close detail cuts. The VG10 takes a really nice edge. Great for a backup knife that you can carry everyday and won't even know it's in your pocket. Given the quality of materials and construction it was a great value for money as well.

My reference book says Marshall Wells was a hardware wholesaler in Duluth, MN from the late 1880s to 1963 and that Zenith was one of the trademark names on their tools. I don't know who made their knives but I'd bet they used both European and American firms at various points.
