What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

@Primble & Stephen - Gentlemen I must apologize! In our conversations yesterday about various team colored knives I stated that I did not even think that I owned an orange knife. Well that was a major Brain F--t. I opened my knife drawer this morning and there staring up at me and saying "Am I not Orange?" was one of my newest friends. It is definitely Orange, and one that I am proud to own. However, it is not Volunteer Orange! So for today in honor of the Vols victory yesterday, I am totin' and using this:D

Robert.B - good looking MOP pen knives.

Jack - the forum knife seems a good Sunday companion. I hope your weekend is going well. It's warm this morning but we expect rain later, so I'm headed down to the State Park shortly to get a walk in before the showers start.

Andi - nice combination today between the 112 and the 99.

GlennH - lovely. I can see why you wouldn't be able to get enough of it.

bonzodog - handsome Barlow.

Will - good point about not seeing many 56s posted. It's an attractive pattern, but I don't think they've released any since '11. What's the pull like on yours?

snippy - really vivid, lovely scales on that one. Kind of reminds me of bamboo.

I'm planning to carry my Bullnose with me on my walk this morning, although I might swap out to something else later today.

Thank you! The two look quite similar, but this one is actually a #71 Bullnose (3 7/8") rather than a #21 Bull Buster (4 5/8" closed). The blade on the #71 is O1 whereas the #21 uses 1095 I believe. The Natural Canvas Micarta I posted was an SFO for CollectorKnives last year (2014).

Primble - I don't recall seeing that 3rd Cut Stag before. Very, very nice! Has it been Primble-ized?

Thank you Stephen, it's been bitterly cold here, but I've been having a pleasant weekend nonetheless :) Hope you enjoyed your walk. The Bullnose is a nice knife to take with you. I carry my orange one quite often when I'm out hiking. Enjoy the rest of your day my friend

It was formerly a very white colored 3rd cut stag (not like the ivory bone - much whiter) and I was reading in the first hundred pages of the TC Barlow thread that the antique amber saw-cut was dyed with Potassium permanganate. I never bonded with the knife in it's manufactured color, so I went to work on her.

I figured a little Potassium permanganate, vinegar treatment on the blade, 600 grit, and 0000 steel wool might bring her to be a knife I like better.

It worked. ;):D

In the studio tonight preparing to record a demo of a song I wrote. Change of strings is in order but first a post to the thread that renewed my interest in Traditionals. This mini trapper is only a few weeks old. IF the sun shows its face tomorrow I'll get a real camera out and try to take something more worthy of this thread.

Welcome!

I look forward to more pictures, but the above shot is fine in its own right. Nice amber bone on that Case.

Knife, schmife-- I want to see more of the guitar. Hold up, that's right, we're in a Knife Forum.

(Taylor...?)

Oh I didn't notice that I may have to add a #71 to my collection. Yes my #21 is 1095 and I really like it, in fact I skinned and quartered a feral hog with mine yesterday and the edge lasted great (tough job) love these knives!

Thanks for the kind words, Stephen :) Much appreciated!

The Congress you are showing Duane, is just an amazing old and well loved gem. :) Thanks for sharing!

Stephen The pull on the 56 would please a lot of people I suspect. I don't mind a hammer pull but this is moderate yet in no sense weak. Combined with the half-stop action that I prefer, you get a very smart opening and decent audible snap on both blades, if wanted:D

Thanks, Will
