What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This was recently acquired at the local swap, (ridiculously cheap BTW). Pre-1931 New York Knife Co Walden, Hammer Brand, brown jigged bone handles, 2 7/8" closed in great condition. Has lived in my pocket ever since, so it was indeed "toted" today. It was a good day at the swap!

Everyone, a sincere Thank you for your kind and inspirational words. I will share these posts with Nanc as she marvels at the true and unique friendships formed here...Thank you for that:cool::thumbup:

@ Sonny, what a wonderful NYKC:thumbup:

I suppose I'll make my first post to the forum in this thread. I'm excited to learn more about this hobby. Here's what I carried today, don't know much about knives yet, but picked this up at a swap meet 06 muskrat

Whoa-- cool lizard!

My show of resistance towards the #38s is weakening.

As shows do.

Welcome and nice knife! I've been frequenting for a few months now, and firmly believe the Traditional group to be the most genteel and kind group on this entire forum. Great place to learn, about knives AND life.

Thanks everyone!

Haven't carried this TC in some time, though it's still one of my all time favorites. It's going to work with me today:

One of THE best made production knives around! astounding F&F on the one I have. Been thinking of getting the jigged bone replaced with micarta but I'm not sure if I want to trust anybody dismantling it, such is the quality of the workmanship.

Thanks, Will

Still carrying the WW2 Camillus Engineer's Knife. It's like having a history book in my pocket, but with cool tools to boot. Awesome build quality.

Paul, you and your family are in my prayers. Tough times. Keep in mind that the big man never gives anyone more than they can handle. Cause he's right there. Also helps to have some awake pocket knives on hand as worry stones!

Sit flyer. Awesome old case! I'm really getting more and more interssted in getting older knives instead of newer ones. Oh the dilemmas in life.

Welcome to the traditional subforum, turbogts! That muskrat looks great; very fancy bolsters!:thumbup:
If my experience here over the past 16 months is any indicator, you picked the right place to learn more about traditional pocket knives. Folks here are very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient, and I learn about 6 new things almost every day. :D:D

Thanks Sarah :), it is a model 6231 1/2, delrin covers, and it's just a tick under 3-3/4" closed. The pen was almost a nailbreaker when it came to me, but has since been loosened up to a moderately strong pull.

I know what you mean about those 38's, I have been drawn to them and have resisted the temptation so far, but that frame has a striking similarity to my beloved Powderhorn.

onejim,
thanks, go ahead and get the old ones, many times I have found older used knives that are just great to sharpen up and toss right into the pocket, already broken in, so to say :D

Wow, that TC has become my favorite; the spear w/ the long pull has marvelous aesthetics--the bold line of the long pull adds so much to the roundness of the spear. I hope to find such a TC at some point--my collection has a serious hole when it comes to these beauties. Great knife!
