Ottermesser brass mercator. Amazing knife!

What a great looking Mercator! :) Your brass one is just a fine looking piece. Thanks for sharing.

Need get one for me again. My last one was given away to a fellow forum member - some months/years ago

Joker
...
Cool photo, Stephen; that Joker's wild!:p
And a beauty of a black Davison the next morning, too!

It's my birthday today and I just opened a few gifts from my wife and family so I suppose I'm totin' all of these for the next few hours :D
...
Hope you had a great birthday, Shawn! Looks like your family took good care of you!:thumbup:

...Slipping this Arthur Wright Lambsfoot in my pocket today :)
...
VERY nice stag, Jack! It was also part of an impressive two-stag day last week, wasn't it? I remember noting the stag pair with admiration, but not taking the time to publicly acknowledge it! :o

Thank you Gev! I am carrying the IRJ again today….
Great photo of an attractive knife! It just "blazes" out of that pic!

Interesting canoe! What brand/model is it?

Beautiful bone on that one, Bob!:thumbup:
I'm kind of a slow learner though, and don't recognize the models very well; is that a 25?

...
Black on Black.

TC helping out at work today.

Chris
Cool photo, and that 2-bladed sheepsfoot black Charlow is superb, Chris!! :)

Carrying the Tuna Valley Railsplitter
...
Wow, beautiful buffalo horn, Kyle, and a SERIOUS pen blade on that guy!:D:thumbup:

...Kestrel feather, Muskrat, and Rosewood Hunter:
...
Beautiful rich browns in that photo, Primble!!!

My old and trusty GEC #66 Serpentine Jack...
Great to see you with that one again, Andi! :p:thumbup:

I had one of these in high school that I used for backpacking. Did everything from food prep, cleaning fish, making feather sticks and everything else. That was before I knew that you need several kinds of knives to do various things under varying situations. Before the advent of "bushcraft." :D I saw this on the bay and had to have it. My original one was a typical 50's or 60's green. This one has solid snap on all blades and all are sharp. I like it!
...
Me, too, UT_fish!! Those old Imperials are VERY cool, IMHO!:cool:

Well I started out the day with a knife that cannot be discussed nor shown on this thread. As a matter of fact, this knife does not existed nor will it ever exist. If I had any knowledge of this knife, its existence or non-existence, I would not be at liberty to disclose.

But fortunately I got this Tidioute #73 in the mail today, and I will carry it for the remainder of the day and beyond.

I think either knife, existing and non-existing, could have been carried by Capt. Willard. That is to say if he did exist ... and if the year was 1968. I need a drink.

...
Very nice 73, Rex; congrats!! I'm not following the rest of your post, but I know the arrival of a new knife can make me kinda giddy, yet philosophical!:D

Looks like a WICKED edge on that blade, David!:thumbup:

Ottermesser brass mercator. Amazing knife!

Thanks Rob. I like the Rosewood Hunter and the coloring on the muskrat is superb.

Thank you Bob. :)

/\ /\ /\ /\ Gorgeous Pic and wonderful knives as always Primble. The bone on the Case Muskrat is stunning. Carrying my Fremont Today:

Many thanks and that Fremont is a looker. ;)

Both knives are such beauties!! The FB looks especially nice:thumbup::thumbup: Love the Kestrel feather...such an awesome bird:D

There is a sad story behind that feather Gevo. Thanks for the comments !:thumbup::)

Wonderful photo and two gorgeous knives. I'm not sure I remember ever seeing you post a fixed blade that you were carrying before, but I'm absolutely certain that I've never seen that stunning Muskrat before.:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm carrying this ebony Davison today.

That is a stunning Davison Stephen. You must have missed my only previous post of the Muskrat, about a year ago, if I recall correctly. ;):D

Have not seen that one in about a year, I believe. I recall it being a gifted knife to you and a wonderful knife to be gifted ! I passed on one like it at a master dealer when they were available and kicked myself later on. Awesome bone color, shield, and the Damascus ;) is splendid !:thumbup::) ( I don't think they made very many of those in that color with the Damascus )

Another fantastic picture Primble, I really wish the more recent Case knives used bone like that! That Case Hunter is very cool as well. Of course, with your photography skills you could make a butter knife look like a $500 custom.

Thank you Erik. You already know how I feel about your fabulous Indian River Jack and I think your last comment is similar to the pot calling the kettle black ! ;):D

I took a few more pics of the Muskrat, after I carried a while today. It is a fantastic old Case redbone from 1971. Nice centered blades, very nice pull, and plenty of snap.

I call it my Trick or Treat red bone rat, as it was once a red bone on both handles. I strongly suspect it spent a lot of time on display and the mark side eventually changed color.

I didn't quite capture it, but, if you look down into the nail nick relief in the bone on the mark side, it is reddish colored where the light did not change it.

If I thought I could duplicate it, I might be tempted to try displaying a few more in strong light, but, I doubt the results.

Fantastic Davidson you are carrying today!

Primble
I carry the Case more often then I post pictures of it. It was my only GAW win and from Kris. Of course he has great taste in Damascus. Pete sent me a sheath for it as a gift. I treasure them both.
