What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Rooster Cogburn today

Beautiful knife there GEV!

I like that one Will. I'm a big fan of the Sodbuster style. What scale material is used on that? Looks like wood?

Appreciate that Bob! It's actually just delrin but it's been sanded down a bit to toughen it even more, these Bökers have nice thick handles.

Rachel I'm not a big Sodbuster fan in the sense of collecting many but I do like to keep a couple handy. The Queen Country Cousin is probably my favourite due to its pointed D2 blade and slightly smaller dimensions, it also has nice thick well radiused handles.

Andi Great to hear you had a fine day out across the border with the family. You know, that's not a bad looking knife you're showing there.....;):D:thumbup:

Regards, Will

I'm carrying 3 Rough Riders this week: a sowbelly stockman, a congress, and a canoe:

As always, a lot to admire in this thread! I'm gonna arbitrarily start 24 hours ago, and pick some subjective highlights.

Have I thought about it, Jack? Have I thought about employing a simple solution like that? A simple solution that I have, in fact, used in the past with great success?

Um, for some reason (my brain), I had not. :o

Thanks for reminding me that I'd already solved this problem. :D
I just fashioned a cord with a knot that slides behind my belt and what do you know.
What works for a slip-joint pocket slip works for a fixed blade pocket sheath, as well.
...
This gave me a good laugh!! :D:D Rachel, I was ready to start spouting off about maybe trying some extra seams sewn into pants pockets to hold the sheath upright, but sounds like you have it under control!

...Oiled bone Fremont Jack along with orange ALOX Rancher for my carry today:thumbup:
...
Pretty pair, Paul!:cool: I admire the rainbow of Alox you have at your disposal.:thumbup::thumbup:

This Scagel Fruitport today.
...

Getting some lump charcoal ready for the grill and kicking back a few for Game 1 tonight, go Blackhawks, Tom Ploppert Diamond Edge cattle knife in my pocket
...

I always enjoy looking at the spectacular stag handles on some of the knives folks have, and waiting an entire week between "installments" of the Stag Saturday thread can sometimes seem like forever! But we can always count on Gary and Kris for almost-daily stupendous stag fixes!:thumbup:

I got my very first GEC knife in the mail today. #99 Wallstreet with stag. I think I'm hooked!
...
Congrats on that terrific knife, Stig!! As several have noted, that's another example of prime stag!:thumbup::thumbup:

These...
With this...
And, er, this one as well through most of the day, in case a screwdriver was needed:
No worries about blowing away today! :D

~ P.
Your tools can definitely keep you grounded, Sarah! :p It's good to see that I'm not the only one who uses cutlery carry as part of a well-rounded strength training regimen!! :D:D

...I switched to my modified Eureka jack this afternoon.

After mod...
Now, with use and patina
...

I've always loved that knife that you modded. I personally refer to is as a "Eureka Jeff" rather than a Eureka Jack. :) If GEC would ever make one like that I'd buy it.
Jeff, that clip blade mod is SO impressive, and John, I think your name for the knife is SO appropriate!!:cool:

...That is a fine trio of Cases GT !!!:)...
Thanks for the kind word, Primble. :) I really like the looks of Case's current chestnut bone, but even it pales in comparison to your numerous examples of "old school" rich red bone Cases!:eek::thumbup::thumbup:

I like that knife, and I love the use of a Leatherman(?) as a platform!;);)

...
I'm going with Mr D again today :)
...
Quoting one of my professors from decades ago, "How could it be otherwise?":rolleyes::D

Thank you Ron. I keep opening and closing this one just because I can :D
...
That is a rousing red, Bob; fantastic knife!:thumbup: What's the "seed head" in the photo?

...A dirty fixed blade, and I need to re-burn one end of the leash on this Farmer, but I am totin' these today.
...
I like the blend of uniformity and diversity in your daily carry, Tom!! A fixed blade and a folder each day, but what a variety of each you have to choose from!!:cool::cool:

Nice pairing, Tom:thumbup:

Rooster Cogburn today...

Gev, that's a complete show-stopper for me!!:eek: I've been looking for a special 30th wedding anniversary knife for over a month now, and one of the top contenders is a 2-bladed toothpick in stag, so when I see one, it definitely grabs my attention! Can you provide any details on that knife, including the name you gave it? Is it a GEC Powderhorn, or a completely different model? Just an incredible knife, sir!:thumbup::thumbup: I think it will definitely give me a "Platonic ideal" I can compare my search results to! :D

Finally found one of my grail knives, a Camillus Army Post Exchange knife.

It's been eluding me since I started collecting Camillus knife patterns from WWII era and is a perfect Thirsty Thursday carry:
...
Congrats on concluding a successful search, Jordan; that's a fine-looking specimen!!:thumbup: Are the handles actually jigged wood, or have "life experiences" given the scales a textured look?

As of today I'm carrying my imperial Barlow, yesterday I started out with my schrade 340t and than a buck stockman.
Those are 3 classics, Balrog!!:thumbup:

Böker Whittler was with me today... had a nice day in Salzburg with the family.
...
Glad you could have a day out with the family, Andi! What name is given to that kind of "bone shaping"??

That's some good tasty bone on those RRs.

Regards, Will

Thanks, Will! :)

Well, it took FAR longer to compose this post than I planned, since we had to evacuate the building for 45 minutes because the fire alarms sounded. Seems that all is well now; no one told me the cause of the alarms.

GT, that's just a pine sprig (you can see the newly formed pine cones). We had some rain with some strong winds that last couple days and I had a couple of those blow off the pine tree.

Thanks, Bob. This former farm boy still has a lot to learn, horticulturally speaking! :(

Catching up on the thread and way too many wonderful knives to comment on but there is not a one I didn't admire :D
A Scout and Dutch Bros type of day for me
