Thanks for the info and link, Jordan. :thumbup:Thanks GT! It's actually jigged wood. There are a couple of WWII knife patterns from Camillus that have jigged wood scales. It's actually a common find on the USCG/Navy knives from that time period. Here's an old thread with a couple good photos: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Boat-Sailor-s-knives?p=12982951#post12982951
Thanks for the specifics on the knife, Gevo; I'll definitely keep an eye peeled for a Fight'n Rooster toothpick! I really like your knife and I loved "True Grit" (both novel and movie, although I haven't seen the fairly recent remake film), but it took me awhile to actually catch the "Rooster" connection!...
It's a Frank Buster / Celebrated Cutlery / Germany -- Fightn Rooster. It a well made knife and quite big at 5 in. closed. I thought it had "True Grit" just like Rooster Cogburn who was played by one of my favorites, the big man himself, John Wayne in a movie of the same name. Don't miss it eitherLet me know if you need any thing else. You don't see a lot of them but you still can find um

You're welcome, Tom. I certainly don't get bored with your photos, but my written reactions probably "get old" fairly quickly. I mean, I can't just write "Pulchritudinous pair" every day!...Thanks for the kind words GT! I struggle with posting the same kind of knives daily, as I don't want to bore the good folks here. But I like photography and love knives, so I continue. Someone tell me if I am boring you and I will cease and desist
.
You have a lot of nice old friends, Jack!...I'm carrying this old John Petty Sleeveboard for Old Friends Friday
...
Good to see you putting that guy to work right away, Shane!
Everything about this knife looks like a great user. Long pull spearpoints
