It's one thing to see pictures of cool knives, but this thread shows us what cool knives are CARRIED which is a big difference. I look forward to checking it out each day. A great place.
Thanks for the welcome. Lol, I can be such an idiot some days...or more depending who you ask. I meant my #09...you are of course right, I haven't seen that configuration on a 25 either. Nice idea though [emoji6] . And I'd love to post a picture of my sidekick, but for the life of me can't figure out how to upload pictures to the forum. Do I need to be on a desktop (I'm on my phone..)?
Glad the hospital went well for you, Tim. That photo of the knife and fishing rod was old and totally "staged". I never fish any more (probably haven't gone more than 5 times in the last 50 years) but I was trying to be "artsy" and clever: sunfish pattern, rod & reel ain't I something??thank you kindly GT, all went well for once aha. Those tortoise shell acrylics are the one acrylic that really does catch my eyes. Must look great in the sunlight/hope you caught some good ones.
One of these days, I just might pick up one of those.![]()
I'm no expert on marketing, but I have my esthetic opinions, and I think the cover material is very important on this pattern. That is to say, it's possible that the versions that were done in stag don't sell quickly because they give the impression of a bad skin disease on the lady's leg. Now if they do one in 'glitter gold' I might not be able to resist. Who doesn't like lamè?
So you DID pick up a lady leg knife, eh Rachel? And the tortoise shell is your attempt at the lame' effect?
Is it a pretty effective bottle opener?
I think yours looks good :thumbup:, but I'm seriously considering this one; the scrimshaw owl makes the whole idea much less silly:

Totin this one today. For some reason it comforts me during the not so great days. I think it might be the feel of the jigged bone. Have a great Saturday everyone

Gev - I love the simple, classic beauty of that one.
I've been puttering about the house with the Whitetail in my shorts pocket all day. Can't say that I've accomplished much, but it's been a nice, relaxing day; and I hope that all of you have been enjoying the day as much as I have.

Ryan, that particular pic of your scout shows off the richness and color of the bone incredibly!!:thumbup: Man, that bone looks GOOD!
VERY impressive, Kris; you're still doing gourmet cooking with ONE hand??These two have been with me the last two days,
...grilled some flank steak that we had marinating all day, with a homemade chimichurri sauce
.
Thanks for the compliment, Primble. A sunfish owner has to think its covers look good, because there sure is a vast expanse of cover!!...Thank you GT. That tortoise is a pretty cover.
...
Interesting story about your RE teacher, Jack; sometimes I think you're almost a real-life Forrest Gump!!...Oh I dare say it'll come here too GT, probably only budget cuts to thank for the current state of things. By coincidence, one of my school RE (Religious Education) teachers (Miss Eyre) was one of the Dead Sea Scroll translators and would talk about her work, and the accompanying security regularly. She did work for the British, Israeli, US, and Russian governments, and would generally be locked in a heavily guarded closet - she reckoned that the Russians were the most laid back!
...Despite the strong and alluring pull of some very nice ebony, I'm moving away from the Dark Side today, and going with some stag:thumbup:
...
Jake, that is off the charts!!Getting my pic in early today for a change. I picked up this Bret Dowell swayback a month ago or so. This is its first time out on the porch (I know I should be ashamed of myself!)
...
Staggering stag you're sporting today, Mark, and, as always, the fish barlow is one pulchritudinous pisces!...Stag Saturday carry
...
Knockout Scout, Drew; just spectacular!!Totin this one today. For some reason it comforts me during the not so great days. I think it might be the feel of the jigged bone. Have a great Saturday everyone...
^ it's a tattooed lady leg! Oooo la la!
Hadn't thought of the scrimshaw as a tattoo, but that makes sense! Seems like I saw a leg knife in "gunstock check" bone, and it had a real fishnet look to it.Yes. That is a nice thing about Rough Rider. For $7, I can give a pattern a try. I contradicted myself a bit, because tortoise shell is a spotty look, but the shininess makes up for it. I like the idea of a scrimshaw tattoo, and that Marble's looks nice. Someone should scrimshaw a fishnet stocking. It is a silly knife, don't fight it.

I'm afraid mine isn't a very good bottle opener. It did get the bottle open, but it took some persistence on my part, working my way around the cap.
Thank you GT, haha well it gave me a laugh now at least. It's ok, I'm sure imposter photos lurk around here all the time
I'll be sure to leave a photo next of a fully skinned deer that was done with just a small peanut.
