What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

5:30 am // seems today is a day for double blades to take with me to appointments.

Two of my favourite knives for both people they came from. Hope you're doing well Bob and you too Ron :)
Yep Tim, 2 great knives, 2 great blades from 2 great people.

Your Barlow looks fantastic Mark.:D

I just got this Seahorse Whittler as a groomsman gift the other day. I've been wanting one for a while, and its exceeded my expectations so far.
Super nice Whittler, what a great gift.

Craig Brewer today:
Amazing craftsmanship and beautiful lines on that one.

Carrying my new K'roo today

Cool knife jr, heavy duty looking blade. Lots of great South African knifemakers out there. (hope I got the region right:o)

A.Wright Sheffield England keeping me company today
Awesome looking knife Brother Jim :D

Wow:eek: what great examples of Farmer Jacks.

Ron, your photos are great, love that pair:)

Great shot of some great knives. Figures AAC would make a CAN cover;):D

Beauties HWF!!!

glen does some great work (that shield looks familiar). Very nice knife David

I never tire of that Black Davison Jake

I would never tire of that Genuine TC either.

This Blackwood Lime Cutter arrived today so carried asap to a deck stain job:thumbup: it was paired with my favorite knife of all, my Gabon Ebony Spear/Pen TC:cool:
Awesome Lime Cutter, you must have some tough limes up there Paul. Looks great paired with your favorite.

Great photo Gary, love the black SAK and lanyard (I have to look that up again how you hand tied the end)

Stockman for me again.

Thank you Jack, can't wait to see more of that Haywood. That was a very nice gift from Stephen. flaring spring:confused: interesting :D

Cheers Dave, the spring widens as it moves away from the pivot, apparently a regular feature on Sheffield knives in the far past, but it disappeared at some point. I'll try to get pics soon :)

The green bone on that Queen gunstock looks wonderful! The knife is a beauty!

Sounds like you're having a great time my friend :)

That Lime Cutter is an interesting knife Paul

Off to the docs this morning for a routine check-up. Thought I'd carry my Kastor Doctor's Knife :)

Not sure why I don't have a better pic of this one :o

Thank you Jack, hope all is well with you as well, nice setup :)

Stockman for me again.

Thank you Dave, good looking Schrade and I really like the selection of knives you've got for display in the back. Is it a wall hanger? I often hope to do so in the future but worry of tenacious fingers opening the case and them all falling out xD

felt like the reassuring sawcut today, love this knife.

Beautiful TC Drew, did you do the EO on that one yourself? Knives in my pocket are often act as 'worry stones' as well for me.

Tim - Thank you Tim ;) Nothing like a pair of Jack's to tag along for the day

I was Totin' this pair today, Viper in Osage Orange and a Vic Cadet in Autumn Orange :)

Anytime Ron :), that OO is darkening up quite nicely with each carry.

It's Buffalo Horn Tim. I love this single blade Barlow in C70 carbon steel (?). It takes a fine edge. I wish I could cherry pick an example of this knife. As you can see, the handle pins/rivets were put in just slightly too aggressively and there's minor damage to the horn. The "damage" is all cosmetic though.

Still looks amazing nevertheless to me, the same is said of my resolza but it functions perfectly and wonderfully, horn is a wonderful cover medium, really shines through with depth in lighting.

Thanks Dave, also on that Pioneer, I changed out the split ring to a smaller diameter one, a lot handier carry that way, as the original one was far wider than the knife itself

And here is a link to how to tie that diamond knot

Close Gary, here in Australia & New Zealand they are called a "Pick & Tweezers" The pick being used to pick/dig a splinter or thorn out then the tweezers to extract it.
Not sure how common they are in other parts of the world but they were very common here in traditional knives out of Sheffield & Germany(Not seen much on new knives these days)
Schrade did them on an Old Timer Trapper Pattern 96 OT - not sure if that was made generally or only for the Aussie & New Zealand Markets
Here is a better photo of a P&T with a Henry Boker.

Derek

Old Timer also did a 97OT (Clip Blade & Saw Blade) that I eyed a few years ago , not knowing of the switch to Taylor Brands. One day I stopped by the Lumberyard it was at while traveling through that town to finally buy it and it was gone. Taylor still makes it, but I'd rather have a USA version. Should have bought it the first time it caught my eye. :(

I put this one in my pocket today for something different. 1985 Puma Lord that I bought new for $100.00 at a Cutlery World in the mall. It broke my heart when that store closed.
