What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I was lucky enough to get this one a while back, I have no idea who made it

Tomsch, good job on fixing up that Queen. I'm beginning to appreciate that kind of project myself.

Maxx, I know how you feel about that Case. I've gotten a couple that it seemed they decided not to put a point on the blade; myself, I kinda like a point. That dark molasses bone is really nice to look at; it should make a really nice pocket knife once you get the blade edge like you want it.

Elliott, that Eye brand stockman looks nice and up to any task. Thanks for sharing.

Ed

hey Ed

yeah it's a bit disappointing also this being a "case bros model in a tin"
was hoping for a bit higher finish than the usual "case xx"
the clip blade sits IMO too low when opened, it points downward maybe the spring is 1mm too long or not square enough (or are they supposed to point downwards? a muskrat I have has 2 blades and one points down one is straight with the handle spine.., I can see that the spring there it contacts the tang is not even but is unifinished)

tips are fine now, some strop on the spine lowered the tip to a usable one
edges will be SHARP as hell asap, will rise the edge and round it where needed, it's a 50usd knife ok but some little more attention would make it 300x better

the bone is incredible, wonderful color

today, first time
EYE Small Soddie in a leather pouch (Maxx works :D )
going to work a bit so no spyderco slipjoint but a REAL slippe will be along my side, bought it a a "lightweight" working knife for those work days where a knife is a must, lets see how it compares to a UKPK, edge is sharp but just stropped (high convex shiny edge will arrive some day)

This little fella stays jealous- he doesn't get much pocket time. He's gonna ride shotgun for a few days...

Well, I'm sitting here at my computer desk with that mini copperhead looking me straight in the eye. But, I'm determined to carry something else today. Here under my monitor I have a bunch of nice knives to choose from to carry including my Silver Knight 250B, the GEC whittler, two copperheads, the Buck 302, my avatar canoe, Case SBJ. Why, is it so hard for me to pick one of those up instead of the mini copperhead? I don't know, it has a magnetism that just attracts me to it.

The Schrade 194OT is going in the pocket, but I'll bet the mini copperhead winds up in the other one.

OOOooooh! 1581 zebra, that peanut is magnificent! - Ed

Thanks guys. Ed I've admired your avatar canoe many times- it would be hard for me to leave that at home. I guess that's how I end up with 3 folders on me all the time, and more close by in case the urge hits mid day to switch something!

Elliott,

Every time I see that knife I want to go pick at something. It almost looks more like a surgical instrument. Really nice piece.

Thanks, Brad. John did a nice job with this one.
The steel is cryo'd and it's an integral frame to boot.

I have had a thing for Cattle patterns lately and thanks to some really knowledgeable members/collectors on BF I have been able to acquire a number of very fine examples. Thanks guys! And yes, it is in my pocket.

One of my favorite patterns, Brad. And she's a true beauty!

Would look fine alongside my Erickson...and don't you just think he nailed the vintage tone of the jigged bone?

Great stuff! But now I'm thinking I'm going to have to throw this one into my pocket as well! ;)

Elliot I think I've said this before. You suck:p
You have some of the finest looking knives around.
You also make me spend money on trying to get knives like yours.
Please stop posting pictures:D
Back to work I go.
Oh... thanks for showing that Erickson Cattleman.

Elliott,

It is almost my knife new! I have been thinking about who I would have make me a Cattle pattern when my number came up. I think that riddle has been solved!

EDIT: With the exception of the small clip that it my knife! Whoa!

Hmmm, thanks, I think... :p

Well, you won't be disappointed, I can assure you of that. The clip point substituted for a spey or pen was my own little twist on the pattern. Ken absolutely nailed it to perfection.:thumbup:

Been on a vintage kick lately so today it is an old Kabar easy-pull two bladed jack. Needs some clean-up over the next day or two as well as just a light clean-up and reprofile. The blade has just a little wobble that I may fix but don't want to over-do it. Nice snap and so easy to pinch open.

I'm not normally a very envious person, but whenever I see that Erickson Cattle Knife, I get a little green. There a few that pop up on a regular basis that really hit the spot for me- and that one is at the top of the list.

Congratulations (again) to you and to Ken for that one.

It's a beautiful merger of concept and craftsmanship!
